Explant-based models for assessing HCC recurrence after liver transplantation serve as the gold standard, guiding post-liver transplantation screening and immunosuppression adjustment. Incorporating alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels into these models, such as the novel R3-AFP score, has notably enhanced risk stratification. However, validation of these models in high-evidence data is mandatory.

In intensive care units, COVID-19 viral pneumonia patients (VPP) present symptoms similar to those of other patients with Nonviral infection (NV-ICU). To better manage VPP, it is therefore interesting to better understand the molecular pathophysiology of viral pneumonia and to search for biomarkers that may clarify the diagnosis. The secretome being a set of proteins secreted by cells in response to stimuli represents an opportunity to discover new biomarkers.

Breast reconstruction (BR) after mastectomy is important to consider for a woman's body image enhancement and psychological well-being. Although post-mastectomy radiation (PMRT) significantly improves the outcome of patients with high-risk breast cancer (BC), PMRT after BR may affect cosmetic outcomes and may compromise the original goal of improving quality of life (QoL). With the lack of practical guidelines, it seems essential to work on a consensus and provide some "expert agreements" to offer patients the best option for PMRT after BR.

Methane emission by terrestrial invertebrates is restricted to millipedes, termites, cockroaches, and scarab beetles. The arthropod-associated archaea known to date belong to the orders , and , and in a few cases also to non-methanogenic and . However, all major host groups are severely undersampled, and the taxonomy of existing lineages is not well developed.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has recently been shown as an excellent tool for the study of the liver; however, many obstacles still have to be overcome for the digitalization of real-world hepatology. The authors present an overview of the current state of the art on the use of innovative technologies in different areas (big data, translational hepatology, imaging, and transplant setting). In clinical practice, physicians must integrate a vast array of data modalities (medical history, clinical data, laboratory tests, imaging, and pathology slides) to achieve a diagnostic or therapeutic decision.

Purpose: Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) may cause vasomotor symptoms (VMS) including hot flushes and sweats, which affect quality of life (QoL). Serelys Homme is a nonhormonal and a natural origin product that could affect VMS in men undergoing ADT. We evaluated effectiveness and tolerance of Serelys Homme administration on VMS and QoL of patients undergoing combined ADT and radiation therapy for prostate cancer.

Renal medullary carcinoma (RMC) is a rare form of renal cell carcinoma that has a poor prognosis. It is known to be associated with sickle cell trait or disease, although the exact underlying mechanisms are still unclear. The diagnosis is made through immunochemical staining for SMARCB1 (INI1).

Background: Radiation therapy (RT), a novel approach to boost the anticancer immune response, has been progressively evaluated in the neoadjuvant setting in breast cancer (BC).
Purpose: We aimed to evaluate immunity-related indicators of response to neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy (NACRT) in BC for better treatment personalization.
Patients And Methods: We analyzed data of the first 42 patients included in the randomized phase 2 Neo-APBI-01 trial comparing standard neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) and NACRT regimen in locally advanced triple-negative (TN) and luminal B (LB) subtype BC.

Genomic classifiers such as the Genomic Prostate Score (GPS) could help to personalize treatment for men with intermediate-risk prostate cancer (I-PCa). In this study, we aimed to evaluate the ability of the GPS to change therapeutic decision making in I-PCa. Only patients in the intermediate NCCN risk group with Gleason score 3 + 4 were considered.

Background & Aims: Two recently developed composite models, the alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) score and Metroticket 2.0, could be used to select patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who are candidates for liver transplantation (LT). The aim of this study was to compare the predictive performance of both models and to evaluate the net risk reclassification of post-LT recurrence between them using each model's original thresholds.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) patients frequently develop liver metastases. Different treatment strategies are available according to the timing of appearance, the burden of metastatic disease, and the performance status of the patient. Systemic treatment (ST) represents the cornerstone of metastatic disease management.

Purpose: The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer 10981-22023 AMAROS trial evaluated axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) versus axillary radiotherapy (ART) in patients with cT1-2, node-negative breast cancer and a positive sentinel node (SN) biopsy. At 5 years, both modalities showed excellent and comparable axillary control, with significantly less morbidity after ART. We now report the preplanned 10-year analysis of the axillary recurrence rate (ARR), overall survival (OS), and disease-free survival (DFS), and an updated 5-year analysis of morbidity and quality of life.

Background: The pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) microenvironment is highly fibrotic and hypoxic, with poor immune cell infiltration. Recently, we showed that nucleolin (NCL) inhibition normalizes tumour vessels and impairs PDAC growth. Methods: Immunocompetent mouse models of PDAC were treated by the pseudopeptide N6L, which selectively inhibits NCL.

Background: The global healthcare system has been overwhelmed by the Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19). In order to mitigate the risk of spread of the virus, most elective surgical procedures have been cancelled especially during the lockdown periods. The purpose of this study was to assess the financial impact of the COVID outbreak due to the supposed reduced workload from our neurosurgery department in 2020.

Purpose: Radiation therapy (RT) for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) treatment is currently delivered in the adjuvant setting and is under investigation as a booster of neoadjuvant treatments. However, TNBC radioresistance remains an obstacle, so new biomarkers are needed to select patients for any integration of RT in the TNBC therapy sequence. MicroRNAs (miRs) are important regulators of gene expression, involved in cancer response to ionizing radiation (IR) and assessable by tumor tissue or liquid biopsy.

Introduction: Septic shock is a systemic inflammatory response syndrome associated with organ failures. Earlier clinical diagnosis would be of benefit to a decrease in the mortality rate. However, there is currently a lack of predictive biomarkers.
