Using a simple drop-casting technique, we successfully fabricated a sensitive electrochemical sensor based on the composite of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) deposited on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) for individual and simultaneous measurements of hydroquinone (HQ), dopamine (DA), and uric acid (UA). The nanocomposite of RGO/MWCNT was further characterized in terms of its structural properties, surface morphology, and topography using Raman, FT-IR spectroscopy, SEM, HRTEM, and AFM. Then, the proposed sensor for simultaneous measurement of HQ, DA, and UA based on RGO/MWCNT-modified GCE was investigated for its electrochemical behavior and electroanalytical performances using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV).

Background: A bioactive fraction of and speciosa, DLBS3233, has recently been used for type-2-diabetes treatment due to its favorable effect on insulin sensitivity. The insulin resistance leading to metabolic syndrome is closely linked to hyperandrogenemia in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). This study evaluated the metabolic and reproductive efficacy and safety of DLBS3233 in insulin-resistant PCOS women.

Background: Atrial septal defects (ASD) are the most common type of adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) associated with a high risk developing of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). ASD closure is not recommended in patients with PAH and Pulmonary Vascular Resistance (PVR) ≥ 5 Wood Unit (WU). Noninvasive methods have been proposed to measure PVR; however, their accuracy remains low.

In this study, three different sizes of gold nanorods (AuNRs) were synthesized using the seed-growth method by adding various volumes of AgNO as 400, 600, and 800 μL into the growth solution of gold nanoparticles. Three different sizes of AuNRs were then characterized using UV-vis spectroscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED) patterns, and atomic force microscopy (AFM) to investigate the surface morphology, topography, and aspect ratios of each synthesized AuNR. The aspect ratios from the histogram of size distributions of three AuNRs as 2.

Introduction: Craniotomy tumour is brain surgery that can induce a stress response. The stress response can be measured using haemodynamic parameters and plasma cortisol concentration. The stress response that occurs can affect an increase in sympathetic response, such as blood pressure and heart rate, which can lead to an increase in intracranial pressure.

Introduction: Craniofacial Tessier Cleft type 3 as a common craniofacial cleft with nasolabial region soft tissue defect, forced surgeons to find their ways of reconstructing using localregional flaps to provide defect closure. The cleft may occur in existence with other constriction band syndrome entity such as the ADAM complex. The effort to repair and give back the basic function for daily activity, put surgeons to find ways and one among them are soft tissue reconstruction using most reliable are forehead and melolabial flaps.

Background: In 2013 the Indonesian government introduced the strategic use of antiretroviral therapy (SUFA) initiative of expanding access to HIV test and treatment, to help achieve the UNAIDS 90-90-90 targets. However, there has been no comprehensive evaluation of the impact of this intervention in Indonesia. We conducted an interrupted time series (ITS) analysis across 6-years to assess its immediate and medium-term impact.

Imaging Sci Dent

December 2018

OMFS IMPATH Research Group, Department of Imaging and Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, KU Leuven and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, University Hospitals Leuven, Leuven, Belgium.

Purpose: To determine the impact of an image processing technique on diagnostic accuracy of digital panoramic radiographs for the assessment of anatomical structures in paediatric patients with mixed dentition.

Materials And Methods: The study consisted of 50 digital panoramic radiographs of children aged from 6 to 12 years, which were later on processed using a dedicated image processing method. A modified clinical image quality evaluation chart was used to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of anatomical structures in maxillary and mandibular anterior and maxillary premolar region of processed images.

Background: Cardiopulmonary bypass during tetralogy of Fallot corrective surgery is associated with oxidative stress, and contributes to peri-operative problems. Curcumin has been known as a potent scavenger of reactive oxygen species, which enhances the activity of antioxidants and suppresses phosphorylation of transcription factors involved in inflamation and apoptosis.

Objectives: To evaluate the effects of curcumin as an antioxidant by evaluating the concentrations of malondialdehyde and glutathione, activity of nuclear factor-kappa B, c-Jun N-terminal kinase, caspase-3, and post-operative clinical outcomes.
