The purpose of this review was to identify and describe the evidence about children and youth engagement during equine-assisted services (EAS). Five databases (Scopus, Web of Science, PsycINFO, CINAHL, and MEDLINE) were systematically searched. Included studies reported research about EAS conducted in children and youth and presented findings about in-session engagement or associated concepts such as motivation, involvement, and participation.

Aims: To describe urinary incontinence prevalence for New Zealand women.
Methods: The New Zealand Health Survey Adult Sexual and Reproductive Health module 2014/2015 was used to estimate urinary incontinence prevalence. Associations between urinary incontinence and age, body mass index (BMI), parity and ethnicity were estimated by logistic regression adjusted for sampling weights.

Aim: We investigated if continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in children with type 1 diabetes (T1D) within 12 months of being diagnosed modifies the development of glycaemic outcome inequity on the basis of either ethnicity or socio-economic status (SES).
Method: De-identified clinical and SES data from the KIWIDIAB data network were collected 12 months after diagnosis in children under 15 years diagnosed with T1D between 1 October 2020 and 1 October 2021.
Results: There were 206 children with new onset T1D: CGM use was 56.
Background And Need For Innovation: The process to design mobile apps for learning are infrequently reported and focus more on evaluation than process. This lack of clear process for health professional education mobile apps may explain the lack of quality mobile apps to support medical student learning.
Goal Of Innovation: The goal of this project was to develop a student informed ready for production wireframe model of a minimally viable mobile app to support learning of musculoskeletal (MSK) clinical skills.

Introduction Advanced and extended primary health care practice roles have been developed in Aotearoa New Zealand (NZ) for dietetics, nursing, pharmacy, and physiotherapy professions. Advanced musculoskeletal physiotherapy roles in primary health care could address escalating health care costs, challenges to workforce sustainability and inefficient primary/secondary care interfaces. Little is known about how stakeholders perceive the recently introduced Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (APP) scope of practice.

EVs released by adipose derived stem cells (ADSCs) have shown promise as a therapeutic for tissue repair because of their purported immune-regulatory properties. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) from ADSCs could be beneficial in improving graft retention rates for autologous fat grafting (AFG) post-mastectomy as, currently, grafted tissue rates are variable. Enriching grafted tissue with ADSC-EVs may improve retention rates by modulating macrophages resident within both the breast and lipoaspirate.

Purpose: Advanced hybrid closed loop (AHCL) systems have the potential to improve glycemia and reduce burden for people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Children and youth, who are at particular risk for out-of-target glycemia, may have the most to gain from AHCL. However, no randomized controlled trial (RCT) specifically targeting this age group with very high HbA has previously been attempted.

Background: Closed-loop oxygen control systems automatically adjust the fraction of inspired oxygen (FiO) to maintain oxygen saturation (SpO) within a predetermined target range. Their performance with low and high-flow oxygen therapies, but not with non-invasive ventilation, has been established. We compared the effect of automated oxygen on achieving and maintaining a target SpO range with nasal high flow (NHF), bilevel positive airway pressure (bilevel) and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), in stable hypoxaemic patients with chronic cardiorespiratory disease.

Marginal zone lymphomas (MZLs) are a rare, indolent group of non-Hodgkin lymphomas with different diagnostic, genetic and clinical features and therapeutic implications. The most common is extranodal MZL of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue, followed by splenic MZL and nodal MZL. Patients with MZL generally have good outcomes with long survival rates but frequently have a relapsing/remitting course requiring several lines of therapy.

The centennial anniversary of Hans Hinselmann's initial publication describing colposcopy is approaching. In the 100 years since the inventor's seminal paper, colposcopy has become indispensable in the diagnosis and management of cervical cancer. It remains central in diagnosing precancerous and cancerous cervical lesions and has dramatically reduced cervical cancer incidence and mortality since the mid-20th century.

Aims: Postprandial hyperglycemia can be problematic for people with type 1 diabetes (T1DM) following carbohydrate-restricted diets. Bolus insulin calculated for meal protein plus carbohydrate may help. This study evaluated the effect of additional bolus insulin using an insulin-to-protein ratio (IPR) on glycaemic control.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of death globally. Although the burden of CVD risk factors tends to be lower in women, they remain at higher risk of developing complications when affected by these risk factors. There is still a lack of awareness surrounding CVD in women, both from a patient's and a clinician's perspective, especially among visible minorities.

Unlabelled: A prior analysis suggested that wound swab culture (WSC) results were driving unnecessary antibiotic use in patients who were not already receiving treatment. As a quality-improvement initiative, our laboratory introduced an "exception-reporting" protocol on 1 March 2023, whereby typical wound pathogens susceptible to recommended empiric therapy (flucloxacillin/cefalexin) were not reported, and a comment was provided, stating no significant resistant organisms had been detected. Full results were available to clinicians on request.

Aim: Mental health-related emergency department (ED) presentations are steadily increasing, including presentations for both mental health and non-mental health concerns by existing clients of mental health services. The study aim was to examine and compare mental health clients and non-clients' ED presentations, identify data and clinical gaps and make recommendations for improvement.
Method: De-identified 2017/2018 ED data were used to describe presentations for current and recent (within last 5 years) clients of specialist public mental health and addiction services, compared to presentations of non-mental health clients.

Background: In New Zealand a progressive increase in budesonide/formoterol dispensing, accompanied by a reduction in dispensing of short-acting β-agonists (SABAs), inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs), and other ICS/long-acting β-agonists (ICSs/LABAs), occurred in the 18-month period following publication of the 2020 New Zealand asthma guidelines, which recommended budesonide/formoterol anti-inflammatory reliever therapy.
Objective: Our aim was to investigate more recent trends in asthma medication use and asthma hospital discharges in New Zealand.
Methods: New Zealand national dispensing data for inhalers for the period from January 2010 to December 2022 were reviewed for patients aged 12 years and older.
