The objective of this study was to investigate the plasma concentrations of insulin-like growth factor-2 (IGF-2) as well as its expression in the uterus and ovary of healthy dogs and those with cystic endometrial hyperplasia (CEH)-pyometra complex. Group 1 (n = 10) included bitches with open cervix pyometra, while Group 2 (n = 7) consisted of clinically healthy bitches in dioestrus. The number of IGF-2 immunopositive interstitial cells was significantly higher in Group 1, whereas in Group 2 there were only two cases in which a few cells were IGF-2 immunopositive.

Synthetic pyrethroids are a group of insecticides frequently used in public health and agriculture, and 3-PBA is a common metabolite of them. Although the liver is the primary organ responsible for metabolizing many compounds including pesticides, to the authors' knowledge there have been no studies on the direct hepatotoxic effects of 3-PBA. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the possible hepatotoxic effects of 3-PBA on a Human Hepatoma Cell Line (HepG2) and the underlying apoptotic mechanisms.

Purpose: To determine the circulating levels of spexin, kisspeptin, galanin, and the correlations between these peptides after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG).

Methods: The plasma levels of the spexin, kisspeptin, and galanin and metabolic parameters (body mass index, weight loss, % excess weight loss, body fat, fasting glucose, HbA1C, and cholesterol levels) were measured (baseline, 1 month, and 3 months) and correlated in thirty adult individuals with obesity (22 female and 8 male) after LSG.

Results: The body mass index (BMI), body fat, fasting glucose, total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol decreased, while high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and % EWL (excess weight loss) increased at 3 months after surgery.

Investigation the anterior mandibular lingual concavity by using cone-beam computed tomography.

Folia Morphol (Warsz)

December 2021

Department of Statistics, Faculty of Science and Literature, University of Ondokuz, Mayis, Samsun, Turkey.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the presence of lingual concavity in the mandible, which can lead to serious intraoral bleeding during surgery, particularly in the interforaminal region.
  • A total of 106 patients' cone-beam computed tomography images were analyzed, revealing that 77.9% exhibited type III lingual concavity, with significant variations in concavity angle and depth.
  • The findings suggest that using CBCT imaging can help identify lingual concavity, potentially preventing complications from cortical perforation in surgical settings.

The aims of the study were to (1) compare the serum concentration of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) with the number of follicles in ovaries and (2) determine the serum AMH con- centration before and after ovariohysterectomy in dioestrus and anoestrus bitches. Sixteen bitches were divided into two groups: Group I (n=8) consisted of dioestrus and group II (n=8) anoestrus bitches. The blood samples for AMH assesment were taken before ovariohysterectomy (day 0) and on day 1, 5 and 10.

Investigating the Influence of Infrared Drying Method on Linden () Leaves: Kinetics, Color, Projected Area, Modeling, Total Phenolic, and Flavonoid Content.

Plants (Basel)

July 2020

Department of Agricultural Machinery and Technologies Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ondokuz Mayis, 55139 Samsun, Turkey.

The Linden () is a highly popular herbal plant due to its central nervous system properties. In this study, thin layer drying kinetics of linden leave samples were experimentally investigated in an infrared (IR) dryer. In order to select the appropriate model for predicting the drying kinetics of linden leaves, eleven thin layer semi theoretical, theoretical, and empirical models, widely used in describing the drying behavior of agricultural products, were fitted to the experimental data.

Hybridization has frequently been observed between wild and domestic species and can substantially impact genetic diversity of both counterparts. Geese show some of the highest levels of interspecific hybridization across all bird orders, and two of the goose species in the genus have been domesticated providing an excellent opportunity for a joint study of domestication and hybridization. Until now, knowledge of the details of the goose domestication process has come from archaeological findings and historical writings supplemented with a few studies based on mitochondrial DNA.

The Radiological Evaluation of Posterior Superior Alveolar Artery by Using CBCT.

Curr Med Imaging

October 2021

Department of Statistics, Faculty of Science and Literature, University of Ondokuz Mayis, Samsun, Turkey.

Article Synopsis
  • Understanding the anatomy of the maxillary sinus is crucial before sinus lift surgeries, as it helps prevent surgical complications related to the nearby posterior superior alveolar artery (PSAA).
  • A study analyzing 150 CBCT scans indicated that knowing the exact position of the PSAA is essential to avoid damaging it and to prevent significant bleeding during procedures.
  • Results showed that most PSAA were located within the bone and had diameters of 1 mm or more, suggesting that larger artery sizes can lead to a higher risk of complications during surgeries.

Determining Potential Feed Value and Silage Quality of Guar Bean () Silages.

Open Life Sci

January 2019

University of Ondokuz Mayis, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Animal Science, 55139 Samsun-Turkey.

This study was carried out to determine the effects of some additives on the potential nutritional value and silage quality of guar bean (Cluster bean = ) silages. It was hypothesized that the use of cereal grains, molasses and ecomass will reduce silage fermentation pH by increasing lactic acid production and positively improve CP content and silage quality. Four different silage groups were established; (control, grain (5%), molasses (10%) and ecomass+molasses (10%+5%)).
