The objective of this study was to investigate the plasma concentrations of insulin-like growth factor-2 (IGF-2) as well as its expression in the uterus and ovary of healthy dogs and those with cystic endometrial hyperplasia (CEH)-pyometra complex. Group 1 (n = 10) included bitches with open cervix pyometra, while Group 2 (n = 7) consisted of clinically healthy bitches in dioestrus. The number of IGF-2 immunopositive interstitial cells was significantly higher in Group 1, whereas in Group 2 there were only two cases in which a few cells were IGF-2 immunopositive.

Aim: Depression is the major psychiatric disorder in patients with epilepsy. Vortioxetine is a novel antidepressant drug for the treatment of major depressive disorders. In the present study, effects of vortioxetine were evaluated in different experimental epilepsy models of rats.

Purpose: To determine the circulating levels of spexin, kisspeptin, galanin, and the correlations between these peptides after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG).

Methods: The plasma levels of the spexin, kisspeptin, and galanin and metabolic parameters (body mass index, weight loss, % excess weight loss, body fat, fasting glucose, HbA1C, and cholesterol levels) were measured (baseline, 1 month, and 3 months) and correlated in thirty adult individuals with obesity (22 female and 8 male) after LSG.

Results: The body mass index (BMI), body fat, fasting glucose, total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol decreased, while high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and % EWL (excess weight loss) increased at 3 months after surgery.

The experiments were carried out at the Animal Physiology Research Laboratory of Ondokuz Mayıs University in 2019. House fly larvae were reared on three diets (wheat bran, fish meal poultry meal) with 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90% moisture levels.

The aims of the study were to (1) compare the serum concentration of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) with the number of follicles in ovaries and (2) determine the serum AMH con- centration before and after ovariohysterectomy in dioestrus and anoestrus bitches. Sixteen bitches were divided into two groups: Group I (n=8) consisted of dioestrus and group II (n=8) anoestrus bitches. The blood samples for AMH assesment were taken before ovariohysterectomy (day 0) and on day 1, 5 and 10.

Long-Term Reciprocal Gene Flow in Wild and Domestic Geese Reveals Complex Domestication History.

Hybridization has frequently been observed between wild and domestic species and can substantially impact genetic diversity of both counterparts. Geese show some of the highest levels of interspecific hybridization across all bird orders, and two of the goose species in the genus have been domesticated providing an excellent opportunity for a joint study of domestication and hybridization. Until now, knowledge of the details of the goose domestication process has come from archaeological findings and historical writings supplemented with a few studies based on mitochondrial DNA.

Effect of Potassium Nitrate and Boric Acid on the Bond Strength of Veneering Ceramics to Zirconia.

In this study, the effects of boric acid addition to the veneer ceramics and treatment of the ceramic cores immersed in potassium nitrate solution were evaluated to reduce the micro cracks that may occur in the internal structure of the ceramic, increase the mechanical properties and improve the chemical bonding strength of core ceramics. In the data obtained after the experiment, the average MPa values showed statistically significant differences according to the groups (p⟨0.001).

Viruses infecting cool season crops in the northern Turkey.

Virus diseases of cool season vegetable crops (mainly cabbage, white and red head cabbage, broccoli, kale, radish, rocket salad, garden cress, and turnip) were surveyed in Bafra Plain, Turkey during winter 2017, and 2018. Leaf samples were collected from different species of the Brassicaceae family showing mosaic, mottling, necrotic spots, malformation, and chlorosis symptoms. These samples were tested for the presence of Cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV), Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), Beet western yellows virus (BWYV), Radish mosaic virus (RaMV), Turnip mosaic virus (TuMV), Turnip yellow mosaic virus (TYMV), and Turnip yellows virus (TuYV) by biological and serological methods.

The effect of rosmarinic acid on the prevention of myringosclerosis.

Objectives: Myringosclerosis commonly occurs as a long-term complication of ventilation during the treatment of otitis media. We aimed to determine the effects of rosmarinic acid as an antioxidant on experimentally induced myringosclerosis.
