Finite Bubble Statistics Constrain Late Cosmological Phase Transitions.

We consider first order cosmological phase transitions (PTs) happening at late times below standard model temperatures T_{PT}≲GeV. The inherently stochastic nature of bubble nucleation and the finite number of bubbles associated with a late-time PT lead to superhorizon fluctuations in the PT completion time. We compute how such fluctuations eventually source curvature fluctuations with universal properties, independent of the microphysics of the PT dynamics.

Synthesis of Caged HMG-CoA Reductase Substrates for the Elucidation of Cellular Pathways.

The synthesis of photocaged substrates of the biologically important enzyme HMG-CoA reductase is reported. HMG-CoA bearing a -hydroxyphenacyl (pHP) photocage moiety was synthesized in an overall yield of 14% over seven steps in addition to caged forms of mevalonate and mevaldehyde. The absorption maximum and quantum yield for the decaging of the photocaged compounds are dependent on pH with a λ of 330 nm and a ϕ of 5%, respectively, at pH 9.

"Stop, pause and take a break": a mixed methods study of the longer-term outcomes of digital emotional wellbeing training for perinatal women.

Background: Maternal psychological distress is related to poorer physical and mental health as well as child developmental problems. Interventions that optimise maternal mental health and wellbeing during the "first 1,000 days" of life should have wide-reaching benefits for the mother and her child. Digital mental health interventions (DMHIs) during this critical period have the potential to equip women with enhanced coping strategies that can be applied and maintained in daily life.

Injectable, cryopreservable, preconditioned mesenchymal stromal cell-loaded microbeads for pro-angiogenic therapy: in vitro proof-of-concept.

Despite their recognized potential for ischemic tissue repair, the clinical use of human mesenchymal stromal cells (hMSC) is limited by the poor viability of cells after injection and the variability of their paracrine function. In this study, we show how the choice of biomaterial scaffolds and the addition of cell preconditioning treatment can address these limitations and establish a proof-of-concept for cryopreservable hMSC-loaded microbeads. Injectable microbeads in chitosan, chitosan-gelatin, and alginate were produced using stirred emulsification to obtain a similar volume moment mean diameter (D[4,3]500 µm).

Methods: We analysed the projects funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) between 2021 and 2023 and the Adaptation Fund between 2019 and 2024 to estimate the amount of funding provided for health adaptation and the health co-benefits of climate mitigation.

The effects of the intergenerational continuity of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on youth outcomes have been documented, particularly among mother-child dyads. Most literature has focused on the continuity of family-level ACEs (Traditional ACEs [T-ACEs]) and not community-level ACEs (Expanded ACEs [E-ACEs]) that disproportionately impact minoritized individuals. We aimed to (a) examine the effect of mothers' and fathers' T-ACEs and E-ACEs on youth's T-ACEs and E-ACEs, respectively, and on youth's depressive and anxiety symptoms; (b) examine whether youth's own ACE exposure explains the link between parental ACEs and youth depressive and anxiety symptoms; and (c) explore differential risks by mothers versus fathers.

Drug-Coated Balloons in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: Beyond Evidence.

Drug-coated balloons (DCBs) represent a promising alternative to drug-eluting stents (DESs) by adopting a "leave-nothing-behind" approach, avoiding the long-term implantation of metallic materials associated with vessel damage, stent thrombosis, and restenosis. Although DCBs have historically been indicated for patients with in-stent restenosis or de novo small-vessel disease, recent studies indicate the potential for broader applications in acute coronary syndromes (ACSs). Trials comparing DCB and DES treatments show that DCBs yield comparable long-term outcomes, with some studies suggesting reduced rates of secondary endpoints such as cardiac death and non-fatal myocardial infarction among ACS patients treated with DCBs.

Adoptive T-cell immunotherapy holds great promise for the treatment of viral complications in immunocompromised patients resistant to standard anti-viral strategies. We present a retrospective analysis of 78 patients from 19 hospitals across Australia and New Zealand, treated over the last 15 years with "off-the-shelf" allogeneic T cells directed to a combination of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), BK polyomavirus (BKV), John Cunningham virus (JCV) and/or adenovirus (AdV) under the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration's Special Access Scheme. Most patients had severe post-transplant viral complications, including drug-resistant end-organ CMV disease, BKV-associated haemorrhagic cystitis and EBV-driven post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder.

Psychometric properties of the Arabic Stress Numerical Rating Scale (SNRS-11) in adolescents.

Meta-analytic results have revealed a significant influence of stress on a wide array of psychological and behavioral markers, underscoring its considerable clinical importance. Providing a simple and cost-effective tool assessing stress for the Arabic-speaking population would be immensely beneficial. Therefore, our research objective was to examine the psychometric properties of an Arabic version of the Stress Numerical Rating Scale-11 (Arabic SNRS-11), including its reliability, and construct validity.
