A facile two-step strategy to prepare flexible graphene electrodes has been developed for supercapacitors using thermal reduction of graphene oxide (GO) and thermally reduced graphene oxide (TRGO) composite films. The tunable porous structure of the GO/TRGO film provided channels to release the high pressure generated by CO gas. The graphene electrode obtained from reduced-GO/TRGO (1 : 1 in mass ratio) film showed great flexibility and high film density (0.

Soil pollution by the contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) or emerging contaminants deserves attention worldwide because of their toxic health effects and the need for developing regulatory guidelines. Though the global soil burden by certain CECs is in several metric tons, the source-tracking of these contaminants in soil environments is difficult due to heterogeneity of the medium and complexities associated with the interactive mechanisms. Most CECs have higher affinities towards solid matrices for adsorption.

Introduction: The United States has been unsuccessful in containing the rapid spread of COVID-19. The complex epidemiology of the disease and the fragmented response to it has resulted in thousands of ways in which spread has occurred, creating a situation where each community needs to create its own local, context-specific learning model while remaining compliant to county or state mandates.
Methods: In this paper, we demonstrate how cross sector collaborations can use the Cynefin Framework, a tool for decision-making in complex systems, to guide community response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The in-depth understanding of the reported photoelectrochemical properties of the layered carbon nitride, poly(triazine imide)/LiCl (PTI/LiCl), has been limited by the apparent disorder of the Li/H atoms within its framework. To understand and resolve the current structural ambiguities, an optimized one-step flux synthesis (470 °C, 36 h, LiCl/KCl flux) was used to prepare PTI/LiCl and deuterated-PTI/LiCl in high purity. Its structure was characterized by a combination of neutron/X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy.

Background: Circulating tissue factor (TF)-expressing extracellular vesicles (EVs) are associated with thrombosis in several diseases, such as coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Activity assays have higher sensitivity and specificity compared to antigen assays for measuring TF+ EVs in plasma. The MACSPlex Exosome Kit is designed to detect 37 exosomal surface epitopes, including TF, on EVs in plasma using various fluorescently labeled beads.

ONC206, a dopamine receptor D2 (DRD2) antagonist and imipridone, is a chemically modified derivative of ONC201. Recently, ONC206 and other imipridones were identified as activators of the mitochondrial protease ClpP, inducing downstream pathways that allow them to selectively target cancer cells. Clinical trials showed that ONC201, the first in class imipridone, was well tolerated and exhibited tumor regression in some solid tumors.

Twenty years after the publication of the first draft of the human genome, our knowledge of the human proteome is still fragmented. The challenge of translating the wealth of new knowledge from genomics into new medicines is that proteins, and not genes, are the primary executers of biological function. Therefore, much of how biology works in health and disease must be understood through the lens of protein function.

Gene therapies are currently one of the most investigated therapeutic modalities in both the preclinical and clinical settings and have shown promise in treating a diverse spectrum of diseases. Gene therapies aim at introducing a gene material in target cells and represent a promising approach to cure diseases that were thought to be incurable by conventional modalities. In many cases, a gene therapy requires a vector to deliver gene therapeutics into target cells; viral vectors are among the most widely studied vectors owing to their distinguished advantages such as outstanding transduction efficiency.

Learning optimal individualized treatment rules (ITRs) has become increasingly important in the modern era of precision medicine. Many statistical and machine learning methods for learning optimal ITRs have been developed in the literature. However, most existing methods are based on data collected from traditional randomized controlled trials and thus cannot take advantage of the accumulative evidence when patients enter the trials sequentially.

Methods and Results We calculated 1-year risk of major adverse limb events (MALEs), major amputation, and death for patients undergoing elective revascularization for claudication or chronic limb-threatening ischemia in the Vascular Quality Initiative data (2011-2018). We report hazard ratios according to race and ethnicity using Cox (death) or Fine and Gray subdistribution hazards models (MALE and major amputation, treating death as a competing event), adjusted for patient, treatment, and anatomic factors associated with disease severity.

The aim of this study is to comprehensively assess the quality and nature of the search methods and reporting across Campbell systematic reviews. The search methods used in systematic reviews provide the foundation for establishing the body of literature from which conclusions are drawn and recommendations made.

We used data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) to explore differences in the extent to which men under community supervision are vulnerable to COVID-19 and have access to care during the pandemic, relative to men who are not involved with the U.S.

Methods and Results We here use multivariate latent class mixed models in the biracial Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities study (N=14 514; mean age=54 years; 55% female) to associate obesity subclasses (derived from body mass index, waist circumference, self-reported weight at age 25, tricep skinfold, and calf circumference across up to four triennial visits) with total mortality, incident CVD, and CVD risk factors. We identified four obesity subclasses, summarized by their body mass index and waist circumference slope as decline (4.

A critical step to mimic photosystem II (PS II), a key protein in nature's photosynthesis, for artificial photosynthesis is designing devices for efficient light-driven water oxidation. Here, we describe a single molecular assembly electrode that duplicates the key components of PSII.

Endometrial cancer (EC) is a highly obesity-driven cancer, with limited treatment options. ONC201 is an imipridone that selectively antagonizes the G protein-coupled receptors dopamine receptor D2 and D3 (DRD2/3) and activates human mitochondrial caseinolytic protease P (ClpP). It is a promising first-in-class small molecule that has been reported to have anti-neoplastic activity in various types of cancer through induction of the integrated stress response (ISR) as well as through stimulation of tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) and subsequent induction of apoptosis.

Respiratory viral diseases are a leading cause of mortality in humans. They have proven to drive pandemic risk due to their complex transmission factors and viral evolution. However, the slow production of effective antiviral drugs and vaccines allows for outbreaks of these diseases, emphasizing a critical need for refined antiviral therapeutics.
