Objective: This study assessed content, quality, and readability of patient-directed Internet materials about dental care support and oral toxicities/complications of cancer therapy.
Study Design: A total of 32 websites meeting inclusion criteria from a Google search using terms "cancer>dental>care" were categorized for parameters of content, benchmarks for website quality as defined by JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association), display of the Health on the Net (HON) seal, and Flesch Reading Ease Score (FRES).
Results: Treatment modalities included radiation therapy, chemotherapy, stem cell transplant, and surgery.

Objectives: To compare smokers to non-smokers in terms of soft tissue alterations following single implant treatment in healed bone.
Material And Methods: Non-smoking and smoking patients with sufficient bone volume in need of a single implant in the anterior maxilla (15-25) were consecutively recruited in three centres. Conventional single implant surgery was performed and an immediate provisional crown was installed.

Until recently, the standard of care for early childhood caries (ECC) has been primarily surgical and restorative treatment with little emphasis on preventing and managing the disease itself. It is now recognized that surgical treatment alone does not address the underlying etiology of the disease. Despite costly surgeries and reparative treatment, the onset and progression of caries are likely to continue.

We report the case of a patient who presented to the ENT service with left facial swelling of 5 months duration. Imaging studies revealed a dense expansive mass confined to the inside of the left deep parotid lobule and moderate enhancement following contrast media injection. Subsequently, a biopsy confirmed the presence of an oncocytoma.

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the edentulous vs dentate specimen intraoral bone harvest sites. We wished to identify if there were any sites that yielded similar quantities of bone regardless of the status of the dentition.
Study Design: There were 59 cadavers in the study.

Objectives: The objectives are to ascertain how much is known about the eating disorders of bulimia and anorexia nervosa in a group of female adolescents, to determine if they had practiced behaviors consistent with these eating disorders, and to determine if there was a disconnect with actual and perceived healthy weight status.
Study Design: 126 research subjects completed a survey instrument. Embedded in the eighteen question survey were the five "SCOFF" questions, to determine if an eating disorder may exist.

Objectives: Research suggests that varied etiologic factors are responsible for burning mouth syndrome (BMS). We examined the role of immune and endocrine function in the pathology of BMS.
Methods: We conducted a case-control study to evaluate immune (lymphocyte subpopulations) and endocrine (hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis and sympathetic-adrenomedullary system) function in 47 female BMS patients and 47 age-matched female controls presenting at an university clinic.

Purpose: To characterize the number and type of complications that occur with a monolithic zirconia fixed dental prosthesis (MZ-FDP) supported by four endosseous implants in the edentulous mandible over time and to quantify the impact of treatment on oral health quality of life (OHQoL).
Methods: Seventeen edentulous participants were enrolled. New conventional dentures were fabricated for each participant.

Introduction: 3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase inhibitors (statins) are the first-line pharmaceuticals for the prevention and treatment of dyslipidemia. A recent investigation has shown that statins induced odontoblastic differentiation of dental pulp stem cells. Statins enhance the differentiation of human dental pulp cells by up-regulating mineralization nodules and odontogenic markers.

Objectives: The study aims to determine a) the extent of agreement between visual-tactile caries examination (VTE) and radiographic examination (RE) in detecting presumptive caries lesions on occlusal and proximal surfaces of posterior teeth of UNC Xylitol for Adult Caries Trial participants; and b) the additional caries diagnostic yield obtained by adding RE to VTE.
Methods: Data consisted of surface-level visual-tactile and radiographic classification of disease (cavitated and noncavitated caries lesions) or nondisease (sound surfaces). Participants (n = 114, adults with ≥12 erupted teeth and 1-10 caries lesions) received baseline VTE by a trained and calibrated examiner, and had interproximal radiographs obtained within 7 months before or after the VTE.

Pulp and periradicular testing is crucial to the initial trauma evaluation and to subsequent monitoring of the traumatized teeth and supporting structures. An accurate diagnosis serves as the basis for therapeutic intervention and helps to ensure that destruction of the dental structures will be minimized and function will be regained. The purpose of this review is to present the current best evidence for accurate diagnostic testing of the pulp and periapex of traumatized teeth.

Replacing a single anterior tooth with an implant requires meeting a number of interdependent challenges, including biologic, functional, and esthetic features of success. The principles of osseointegration, the fundamentals of esthetics, and concerns regarding occlusion and function are elements that need to be addressed to achieve implant-supported crown success. In this report, the "Rules of Six" for effectively placing a single-tooth dental implant are described.

For an implant restoration to be both esthetically and functionally successful, the prosthodontist must conduct a thorough treatment plan and complete a prosthesis design. The prosthodontist must carefully calculate the space needed for the restoration and soft tissue in the restoration process. The restoration and soft tissue are affected by the three-dimensional (3D) position of the implant, as the implant's depth determines the ideal length of the crown.

Background: The complex physiological, psychological, and functional changes at the end of life may dramatically affect oral health. However, evidence regarding oral health changes at the end of life is scarce. This study's objective was to examine self-rated oral health and oral health behaviors among community-dwelling elders in the last year of life.

Purpose: Multifactorial etiological factors contribute to denture stomatitis (DS), a type of oral candidiasis; however, unlike other oral candidiasis, DS can occur in a healthy person wearing a denture. In this study, we therefore attempt to explore the association between candida, denture, and mucosal tissue using (1) exfoliative cytology, (2) the candidal levels present in saliva, on mucosal tissues and on denture surfaces, and (3) the salivary flow rate and xerostomic symptoms.
Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional study enrolled 32 edentulous participants, 17 without DS as controls and 15 with DS (Newton's classification type II and III).
