Unlabelled: Elementary school children are spending more time using digital technologies. Teachers and schools are concerned about the student's digital safety. We interviewed ten elementary school teachers virtually to understand their concerns and understand the actions they take regarding elementary school children's digital safety.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of growth mindset interventions: For whom, how, and why might such interventions work?

As growth mindset interventions increase in scope and popularity, scientists and policymakers are asking: Are these interventions effective? To answer this question properly, the field needs to understand the meaningful heterogeneity in effects. In the present systematic review and meta-analysis, we focused on two key moderators with adequate data to test: Subsamples expected to benefit most and implementation fidelity. We also specified a process model that can be generative for theory.

Understanding variation of traits within and among species through time and across space is central to many questions in biology. Many resources assemble species-level trait data, but the data and metadata underlying those trait measurements are often not reported. Here, we introduce FuTRES (Functional Trait Resource for Environmental Studies; pronounced few-tress), an online datastore and community resource for individual-level trait reporting that utilizes a semantic framework.

An environmental scan of aging-related micro-credentials: Implications for gerontology and gerontologists.

The purpose and rise of formal academic programs in gerontology at colleges and universities has been well documented over the last fifty years. What has been less well-documented is the rise of alternative pathways to gerontology training and gerontological competence, including micro-credentialing. Micro-credentials (MCs) are intended to provide quick-to-complete, competency-based education around specific topics to demonstrate relevant skills to employers.

Addressing challenges at the intersection of early intervention and child welfare.

Background: The Keep Children and Families Safe Act amendment to the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) of 2003 mandated children under age three who are involved with Child Welfare (CW) to receive a referral to the system for early intervention (EI). While there is strong rationale for providing developmental services to young children and families impacted by maltreatment, the early implementation of this policy brought about many challenges related to interagency coordination and readiness of providers to provide cross-systems care. Currently, as the system and providers within the system recover from the effects of Covid-19, a predicted increase in need of services may exacerbate historical gaps in the provision of services to families involved with CW.

Osteogenic effect of electromagnetic fields on stem cells derived from rat bone marrow cultured in osteogenic medium versus conditioned medium in vitro.

Objectives: This study assessed possible osteogenic differentiation caused by electromagnetic fields (EMF) on rat bone-marrow-derived stem cells (rBMSCs) cultured in osteogenic medium (OM) or in human adipose-stem cell-conditioned medium (hADSC-CM).

Materials And Methods: The rBMSCs were divided into negative and positive control groups, cultured in α-MEM plus 10% FBS or OM respectively. CM and CM + EMF  groups, cultured cells in hADSCs-CM or exposed to EMF (50 Hz, 1 mT) for 30 min/day plus hADSCs-CM, respectively.

To investigate the utility of the validity scales of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2-Restructured Form (MMPI-2-RF) for detecting feigned Attention-Deficit Hyperreactivity Disorder (ADHD), we utilized a simulation design. We examined group differences across the Restructured Clinical (RC) and validity scales as well as the classification ability of the validity scales across three cut scores. Analyses were conducted across five simulation groups (N = 177) and a standard instruction group (N = 32).

Background: The number of deaths and people infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Brazil has steadily increased in the first few months of the pandemic. Despite the underreporting of coronavirus cases by government agencies across the country, São Paulo has the highest rate among all Brazilian states.

Methods: To identify the highest-risk municipalities during the initial outbreak, we utilized daily confirmed case data from official reports between February 25 and May 5, 2020, which were aggregated to the municipality level.

Methods: Among 429 non-smoking women in a cohort study of mother-infant pairs in Colorado, USA, we estimated associations between prenatal exposure to ambient fine particulate matter (PM) and ozone (O), and epigenome-wide DNA methylation of umbilical cord blood cells at delivery (2010-2014).

Contaminants of emerging concern (CECs), such as pharmaceuticals and plasticizers, are present in leachate due to disposal of pharmaceuticals and plastic waste. Leachate is usually released to publicly owned treatment works, but CECs could pass through and be discharged into water resources. Landfills generate leachate for many years after closure, but it is currently unknown whether CECs continue to leach over time or dissipate soon after the waste is deposited.

The global spread of SARS-CoV-2 has continued to be a serious concern after WHO declared the virus to be the causative agent of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) a global pandemic. Monitoring of wastewater is a useful tool for assessing community prevalence given that fecal shedding of SARS-CoV-2 occurs in high concentrations by infected individuals, regardless of whether they are asymptomatic or symptomatic. Using tools that are part of wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) approach, combined with molecular analyses, wastewater monitoring becomes a key piece of information used to assess trends and quantify the scale and dynamics of COVID-19 infection in a specific community, municipality, or area of service.

The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic has brought increased attention to the critical mathematical literacy of citizens in the United States and around the world. A statistically and mathematically literate society is crucial for ensuring that citizens are able to sift through political rhetoric to maintain life-saving procedures such as social distancing and other infection dampening efforts. Additionally, recent civil unrest due to the disproportionate killings of Black men by police provokes investigation into the public's mathematical literacy.

Developing and maintaining intergenerational relationships in an economically vulnerable community: findings from the Flint women's study.

Few studies describe how community disadvantage impacts intergenerational relationships. Using interviews with women and service providers (n = 100), we explored benefits and challenges of intergenerational relationships in Flint, Michigan, an economically vulnerable community. Women valued relationships that increased social connections and generativity; however, few community resources promoted such relationships.
