The Aim Of The Study: The aim was to compare the effects of intermittent and continuous inflow occlusion on liver I/R injury in an experimental model.

About 80 years have passed since the first cases of organophosphate induced delayed polyneuropathy (OPIDP), as the consequence of human poisoning with certain organophosphorus compounds, were described in the literature. OPIDP is a relatively rare neurodegenerative disorder in humans characterized by loss of function, ataxia and paralysis of distal parts of sensory and motor axons in peripheral nerves and ascending and descending tracts of spinal cord appearing 2-3 weeks after exposure or later. The molecular target for OPIDP is considered to be an enzyme in the nervous system known as neuropathy target esterase (NTE).

In this paper we review neurotoxic disorders appearing in patients poisoned with organophosphorus pesticides. These compounds cause four important neurotoxic effects in humans: the cholinergic syndrome, the intermediate syndrome, organophosphate-induced delayed polyneuropathy (OPIDP) and chronic organophosphate-induced neuropsychiatric disorder (COPIND). Compared to the cholinergic syndrome, that causes millions of cases of poisoning each year, other disorders involve much smaller numbers of patients.

Organophosphorus compounds (OPs) are used as pesticides and developed as warfare nerve agents such as tabun, soman, sarin, VX and others. Exposure to even small amounts of an OP can be fatal and death is usually caused by respiratory failure. The mechanism of OP poisoning involves inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) leading to inactivation of the enzyme which has an important role in neurotransmission.

Background: Potato sprouts (Solanum tuberosum L.) contain steroidal glycoalkaloids containing solanidine, an important precursor for hormone synthesis. An allylthiosulfinate: beta-cyclodextrin inclusion complex was synthesized and characterized using X-ray crystallography, IR spectroscopy, thermal analysis and nuclear magnetic resonance. The microbiological activity of the complex was tested on available fungi (Candida albicans ATCC 10231, Aspergillus niger ATCC 16404) and bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 9027). In small concentrations, the complex inhibited the growth of the microorganisms tested.

First experiments were performed in order to obtain a polynuclear iron(III) complex with pullulan, which could be applied in therapy of sideropenic anemia. Complete synthesis of the complex can be realized with oligomers of depolymerized pullulan at an average molar mass 8000-10,000 g.mol-1.

The paper deals with mathematical modelling of the transients obtained by fitting of delayed fluorescence (DF) induction trace. The transients are in certain, doubtless connection with electrochemical gradient (ECG) formed across thylakoid membranes upon illumination. The fitting of the C and D transients by using consecutive model for first-order reactions (A --> B --> C) showed that they might play a role of the intermediate (B), according to scheme down bellow: ("A1 state")ECG (k1(C transient))--> C transient (k2(C transient))--> products, ("A2 state")ECG (k1(D transient))--> D transient (k2(D transient))--> products.

The temperature dependence of delayed millisecond fluorescence (DF) induction curve transients was investigated. The transients were obtained by keeping intact maize leaf segments in the dark for 30 to 300 s before illumination. The temperature dependence of DF induction revealed abrupt changes in activation energy of the recombination process.
