The adoption of robotic surgery has been widespread and increasing amongst gynecologic surgeons given the ability to decrease morbidity. It is important that plastic surgeons adjust their reconstructive algorithm to ascertain the benefits of robotic-assisted surgery. Herein we report our outcomes of robotic-assisted rectus abdominis muscle reconstruction of the posterior vaginal wall along with a current literature review on robotic-assisted reconstructive pelvic surgery.

Even as many outcomes for people living with cystic fibrosis (PLwCF) improve, individuals still experience extensive symptom burdens. From birth, many PLwCF experience both pain as a symptom of their CF disease and procedural pain, posing detriments to health, functioning, and quality of life. Despite its prevalence and impact, there is no CF-specific guidance for the assessment and management of pain.

The importance of informed consent and the value of shared decision-making in hand surgery are well-established and particularly critical in the setting of digit amputation when considering replantation. Informed consent requires an understanding of not only the immediate and long-term risks and benefits of surgery, as well as the risks and alternatives involved, but also the capacity of the patient to make a medical decision. However, patients who have acutely sustained a disfiguring trauma are often in distress and may not fully process the consent discussion.

The objective of this study was to develop a measure of hospital maternal levels of care based on the resources available at the hospital, using existing data available to researchers.
Methods: This was a secondary data analysis.

Objectives: Comparison of national midwife workforce data from the National Provider Identifier file determined it undercounted midwives compared to national data available from the American Midwifery Certification Board. This undercount may be due to the existence of three taxonomy categories for midwives when registering for the National Provider Identifier. The objective of this study was to obtain an accurate count of advanced practice midwives using the National Provider Identifier Data.

To describe this intersection and its effects, the term sociolocation was proposed, initially in the context of adolescent development, and defined as "self-identification and recognition of social integration through relationships." Almost a decade later, it is apparent that the processes of sociolocation may continue and repeat through the rest of the lifespan.

Introduction: While the typical treatment for trigeminal neuralgia is carbamazepine, the dose must be gradually titrated over time to achieve pain control, which makes the drug a less than ideal candidate for treatment for acute exacerbation of pain due to trigeminal neuralgia in the emergency department (ED) setting. The literature for other effective treatments for acute exacerbations of trigeminal neuralgia is currently lacking. We discuss a case where intravenous (IV) fosphenytoin was used for treatment of acute pain due to trigeminal neuralgia in the ED.
