This study presents a description of a new stick insect species belonging to the genus Shelford, 1909, discovered by the authors in the Chocó ecoregion of northwestern Ecuador. is described and illustrated based on males, females, and eggs. The distinctive features of this new species, such as its unique body ornamentation and the morphology of its egg structure without fringes, clearly differentiate it from other known species within the genus.

So, the aim of this study was to evaluate the consumers' perception of sausages with fat replaced by fiber, elaborated with meat from non-castrated male pigs, and to determine the influence of the consumers' habits and demographic parameters on their beliefs related to pig castration. This study describes a case of a 20-day-old male fighting bull with bilateral clinical anophthalmia and brachygnathia superior whose dam was 12.5 years old and was mistakenly dewormed with ivermectin intramuscularly in the first third of gestation in a livestock farm. A macroscopic examination of the carcass was performed, with a special focus on the ocular components.

Maintenance of variation in aposematic traits within and among populations is paradoxical because aposematic species are normally under positive frequency-dependent predation (PFD), which is expected to erode variation. Aposematic traits can evolve in an ecological context where aposematic traits are simultaneously under mate choice. Here, we examine how the mate preference intensity affects the permissiveness of polymorphism in sexually selected aposematic traits under different PFD regimes.

We analyzed the attitude toward organ donation among the Cuban populations in Cuba, Spain, and Florida. The study population was Cuban immigrants over 15 years of age residing in Cuba, Spain, and Florida, with samples randomly stratified by age and sex.

The study of depictions of mental disorders in music are scarce, despite the fact that the reproduction of stigmatizing representations can interfere in the search for treatment. The scope of this article is to describe the extent and nature of the descriptions of madness in Spanish punk music (1981-2010) as a basis for comparisons with other countries and musical genres. For the content analysis, 3,653 song lyrics were reviewed looking for the words 'crazy,' 'madness,' or other related terms.

Determining EMIC Wave Vector Properties Through Multi-Point Measurements: The Wave Curl Analysis.

Electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves play important roles in particle loss processes in the magnetosphere. Determining the evolution of EMIC waves as they propagate and how this evolution affects wave-particle interactions requires accurate knowledge of the wave vector, . We present a technique using the curl of the wave magnetic field to determine observationally, enabled by the unique configuration and instrumentation of the Magnetospheric MultiScale (MMS) spacecraft.

Neutral Atom Imaging of the Solar Wind-Magnetosphere-Exosphere Interaction Near the Subsolar Magnetopause.

Energetic neutral atoms (ENAs) created by charge-exchange of ions with the Earth's hydrogen exosphere near the subsolar magnetopause yield information on the distribution of plasma in the outer magnetosphere and magnetosheath. ENA observations from the Interstellar Boundary Explorer (IBEX) are used to image magnetosheath plasma and, for the first time, low-energy magnetospheric plasma near the magnetopause. These images show that magnetosheath plasma is distributed fairly evenly near the subsolar magnetopause; however, low-energy magnetospheric plasma is not distributed evenly in the outer magnetosphere.
