Background And Aims: Identification and photo-documentation of the ileocecal valve (ICV) and appendiceal orifice (AO) confirm completeness of colonoscopy examinations. We aimed to develop and test a deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) model that can automatically identify ICV and AO, and differentiate these landmarks from normal mucosa and colorectal polyps.
Methods: We prospectively collected annotated full-length colonoscopy videos of 318 patients undergoing outpatient colonoscopies.

The homodyned K-distribution and the K-distribution, viewed as a special case, as well as the Rayleigh and the Rice distributions, viewed as limit cases, are discussed in the context of quantitative ultrasound (QUS) imaging. The Nakagami distribution is presented as an approximation of the homodyned K-distribution. The main assumptions made are (1) the absence of log-compression or application of nonlinear filtering on the echo envelope of the radiofrequency signal and (2) the randomness and independence of the diffuse scatterers.

Unlabelled: Since their discovery nearly five decades ago, molecular scaffolds belonging to the 14-3-3 protein family have been recognized as pleiotropic regulators of diverse cellular and physiological functions. With their ability to bind to proteins harboring specific serine and threonine phosphorylation motifs, 14-3-3 proteins can interact with and influence the function of docking proteins, enzymes, transcription factors, and transporters that have essential roles in metabolism and glucose homeostasis. Here, we will discuss the regulatory functions of 14-3-3 proteins that will be of great interest to the fields of metabolism, pancreatic β-cell biology, and diabetes.

CD4CD25 FOXP3 regulatory T cells (Tregs) represent a subpopulation of CD4 T cells central for the suppression of physiological and pathological immune reactions. Although distinct cell surface antigens are expressed in regulatory T cells, those components are also present on the surface of activated CD4CD25 FOXP3T cells, thus making the discrimination between Tregs and conventional CD4 T difficult and isolation of Tregs complex. Objective: To develop a quantitative ultrasound (QUS)- and elastography-based model to improve classification of steatosis grade, inflammation grade, and fibrosis stage in patients with chronic liver disease in comparison with shear wave elastography alone, using histopathology as the reference standard.
Methods: This ancillary study to a prospective institutional review-board approved study included 82 patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, chronic hepatitis B or C virus, or autoimmune hepatitis. Elastography measurements, homodyned K-distribution parametric maps, and total attenuation coefficient slope were recorded.

Objectives: The use of a job-exposure matrix (JEM) to assess exposure to potential health hazards in occupational epidemiological studies requires coding each participant's job history to a standard occupation and/or industry classification system recognized by the JEM. The objectives of this study were to assess the impact of inter-coder variability in job coding on reliability in exposure estimates derived from linking the job codes to the Canadian job-exposure matrix (CANJEM) and to identify influent parameters.
Method: Two trained coders independently coded 1000 jobs sampled from a population-based case-control study to the ISCO-1968 occupation classification at the five-digit resolution level, of which 859 could be linked to CANJEM using both assigned codes.

Objective: Investigate shear wave elastography (SWE) and quantitative ultrasound (QUS) parameters in patients hospitalized for lower limb deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
Method: Sixteen patients with DVT were recruited and underwent SWE and radiofrequency data acquisitions for QUS on day 0, day 7, and day 30 after the beginning of symptoms, in both proximal and distal zones of the clot identified on B-mode scan. SWE and QUS features were computed to differentiate between thrombi at day 0, day 7, and day 30 following treatment with heparin or oral anticoagulant.

The immunomodulatory properties of mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (MSCs) from the foreskin (FSK-MSCs) are being evaluated in cell-based therapy for degenerative, inflammatory and autoimmune disorders. Within the injured/inflamed tissue, proinflammatory lymphocytes such as IL-17-producing T helper cells (Th17) may interact with the stromal microenvironment, including MSCs.
