Objective: The aim of the study was to analyze potential etiological risk factors that constitute a complex problem in the clinical management of peri-implantitis.

Materials And Methods: An observational retrospective study was conducted to describe the possible effect of lesions of origin pulpar and/or periapical success or failure of the implant. The sample consisted of review of 800 implants, of which 500 were conducted at the Faculty of Dentistry of the UANL and 300 private clinics of Maxillofacial surgeons experienced in the placement of those who reside in Monterrey, Mexico.

Purpose: The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the predictors of peri-implant bone loss in a sample of patients treated with 10-mm implants and single crowns who underwent periodontal/peri-implant maintenance (PM) in a Mexican private periodontal practice.

Materials And Methods: Outcomes of a group of systemically healthy, partially edentulous patients attended up to July 2012 were assessed. Patient data were considered for inclusion if they involved treatment of partially edentulous sites with 10-mm-long implants and single crown restorations, as well as at least 3 years of regular PM following implant placement.

Department of General and Pediatric Surgery, Christus Muguerza Hospital, University of Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico.

Background: There have been descriptions of several techniques for congenital inguinal hernia (CIH) repair in the pediatric population by doing high ligation of the sac, without a definitive advantage over the open procedure. High recurrence rates have been reported with using these minimally invasive techniques in which the patent processus vaginalis has been ligated and left in place completely or partially.

Methods: With approval of the ethics committee, a proper informed consent was obtained.

Newborn children of diabetic mothers have an increased morbidity and mortality because of respiratory distress syndrome. We study lung histogenesis during intrauterine development of offspring of diabetic Sprague-Dawley rats at 18, 19 and 21 days of gestation (DG). Pregnant rats were grouped into diabetic (streptozotocin-induced), citrate, and control groups; five female and five male offspring were selected randomly from each group at 18, 19 and 21 DG, and a biopsy of the lung was taken and processed in paraffin for histological examination.
