: Non-dipper hypertension (HT), a condition in which blood pressure does not drop sufficiently at night compared to daytime, is considered a serious condition that increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, and organ damage. This study aimed to examine the relationship between dipper and non-dipper blood pressure patterns, hepatosteatosis, and biochemical markers in hypertensive and normotensive individuals. Demographic, biochemical, and hepatic ultrasonography data from 142 patients who underwent 24 h ambulatory blood pressure measurement (ABPM) were evaluated retrospectively and cross-sectionally in this study.

  • Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common condition linked to higher cardiovascular risks, especially in people with obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D), and although continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is often used for treatment, many patients struggle to stick with it.
  • New focus is on glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) and sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, which may offer benefits for OSA patients by helping with weight loss, lowering blood pressure, and improving heart health.
  • Emerging evidence suggests that these medications can reduce OSA severity and enhance daytime alertness, highlighting the need for more research to confirm their

The first search for soft unclustered energy patterns (SUEPs) is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13  TeV, collected in 2016-2018 by the CMS detector at the LHC. Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.

Background: The main purpose of this study was to summarize the results of the Montenegrin 2022 Report Card on physical activity (PA) for children and youth, which is used to identify and grade PA to help optimize the current situation and provide an improved basis for the creation of a future monitoring system.

Methods: Following the methodology established by the Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance, the Montenegrin team conducted an assessment of PA of Montenegrin children and youth through 12 separate indicators. Grades were awarded based on data found in available articles published up to 2022, including the grey literature, such as government and nongovernment reports, and online content from the same period.

Solar photovoltaic (PV) cell modeling is crucial to understanding and optimizing solar energy systems. While the single-diode model (PVSDM) is commonly used, the double-diode model (PVDDM) offers improved accuracy at a reasonable level of complexity. However, finding analytical closed-form solutions for the current-voltage (I-U) dependency in PVDDM circuits has remained a challenge.

Ovarian cancer in children and adolescents: A unique clinical challenge.

Eur J Surg Oncol

October 2024

Division of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Department of Gynaecology University Medical Centre Ljubljana, Slajmerjeva 3, 1000, Ljubljana, Slovenia; Medical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, Vrazov Trg 2, 1000, Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Article Synopsis
  • - Ovarian cancer in children and adolescents is uncommon and requires a specialized approach, involving a team of healthcare providers to address its unique diagnostic and treatment challenges.
  • - Diagnosis often involves imaging tests and tumor markers, while surgical treatments should prioritize fertility preservation whenever possible, along with tailored chemotherapy based on the type of cancer and its stage.
  • - Early detection leads to high survival rates of over 90%, but ongoing follow-up is essential to monitor for recurrence and manage any long-term side effects from treatment.

Five-factor theory of aging and death due to aging.

Arch Gerontol Geriatr

February 2025

University of Montenegro, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Dzordza Vasingtona bb, 81000 Podgorica, Montenegro. Electronic address:

This new theory of aging explains that aging and death due to aging are due to five factors, and also explains how these factors are interconnected and jointly lead to aging and death of the organism, pointing to many facts that strongly support it. The first factor is the harmful changes that occur in cellular structures. The second factor is the cessation of cell division in adult organisms, which leads to the inability to restore cellular structures.

High-fat diets have detrimental health impacts that increase the likelihood of developing obesity and metabolic syndrome. This study aimed to examine the potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of orlistat and white tea in rats fed a high-fat diet. Thirty-two rats were randomized into four groups: control (standard diet), HFD (high-fat diet), HFD+Orlistat (high-fat diet+orlistat), and HFD+WT (high-fat diet+white tea extract).

Article Synopsis
  • * In a retrospective analysis of 758 patients who had polyps removed, researchers found that neoplastic polyps had lower CALLY and HALP scores and higher inflammatory markers compared to nonneoplastic polyps.
  • * The findings suggest that the CALLY and HALP scores, along with inflammatory indexes, could help doctors distinguish between types of polyps and improve early detection and management of colorectal cancer risk.

CAR-T therapy has demonstrated great success in treating hematological malignancies, which has led to further research into its potential in treating other diseases. Autoimmune diseases have great potential to be treated with this therapy due to the possibility of specific targeting of pathological immune cells and cells that produce autoantibodies, which could lead to permanent healing and restoration of immunological tolerance. Several approaches are currently under investigation, including targeting and depleting B cells via CD19 in the early stages of the disease, simultaneously targeting B cells and memory plasma cells in later stages and refractory states, as well as targeting specific autoantigens through the chimeric autoantibody receptor (CAAR).
