Depression is a prevalent mental health condition in the United States and a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. The treatment guidelines for depression recommends either psychotherapy, such as behavioral activation (BA), or a second-generation antidepressant as a first-line treatment for adult patients with depression. However, many individuals with depression do not experience improvement from first-line treatments or choose not to engage in them due to stigma, cost, difficulty with access, and/or side effects.

The current study compared the effectiveness of different instructional approaches for teaching preschoolers about sinking and floating and examined individual differences in learning. Introduction: While many randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have demonstrated the positive effects of school-based programs in reducing body fat among children and teenagers, there is no conclusive evidence to indicate that one approach is superior to another, largely due to the lack of direct and indirect comparisons. This study evaluated the relative effectiveness of various school-based obesity prevention initiatives in improving body mass index (BMI) among children and adolescents using network meta-analysis.
Methods: Searches included four databases focusing on articles published in English between the years 2002 and 2024.

Although cellular senescence has been recognized as a hallmark of aging, it is challenging to detect senescence cells (SnCs) due to their high level of heterogeneity at the molecular level. Machine learning (ML) is likely an ideal approach to address this challenge because of its ability to recognize complex patterns that cannot be characterized by one or a few features, from high-dimensional data. To test this, we evaluated the performance of four ML algorithms including support vector machines (SVM), random forest (RF), decision tree (DT), and Soft Independent Modelling of Class Analogy (SIMCA), in distinguishing SnCs from controls based on bulk RNA sequencing data.

We report the development of a small molecule-based barcoding platform for pooled screening of nanoparticle delivery. Using aryl halide-based tags (halocodes), we achieve high-sensitivity detection via gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry or electron capture. This enables barcoding and tracking of nanoparticles with minimal halocode concentrations and without altering their physicochemical properties.

Selective delivery of therapeutic modalities to tumor cells via binding of tumor-selective cell-surface biomarkers has empowered substantial advances in cancer treatment. Yet, tumor cells generally lack a truly specific biomarker that is present in high density on tumor tissue while being completely absent from healthy tissue. Rather, low but nonzero expression in healthy tissues results in on-target, off-tumor activity with detrimental side effects that constrain the therapeutic window or prevent use altogether.

Since the description of zebrafish (Danio rerio) in 1822, the identity of its closest living relative has been unclear. To address this problem, we sequenced the exomes of ten species in genus Danio, using the closely related Devario aequipinnatus as outgroup, to infer relationships across the 25 chromosomes of the zebrafish genome. Purpose: The current study addresses a gap in the literature regarding syntactic development of adolescent boys with fragile X syndrome (FXS) and Down syndrome (DS). Specifically, we ask whether syntactic skills plateau or continue to change during adolescence for these groups and whether the profile of syntactic change differs between boys with FXS and those with DS.
Method: Participants were 38 boys with FXS (with and without autism) and 20 boys with DS between the ages of 10 and 16 years, as well as 33 boys who were neurotypical between the ages of 3 and 8 years at study entry.
