Lysine L-lactylation (K) is a novel protein posttranslational modification (PTM) driven by L-lactate. This PTM has three isomers: K, N-ε-(carboxyethyl)-lysine (K) and D-lactyl-lysine (K), which are often confused in the context of the Warburg effect and nuclear presence. Over a 12-year period, this study examined the effects of the Family Check-Up preventive intervention model on both observed and self-reported parenting behaviors of mothers and fathers as well as how those parenting behaviors were associated with young adult antisocial behavior. Teachers identified 641 early adolescent youth from school settings to be at elevated risk for the development of externalizing behavior and/or substance use. These youth and their families were randomly assigned to the Family Check-Up intervention model (consisting of an adaptive, multi-tiered model of support, including a school-based family resource room, the Family Check-Up, and targeted follow-up services) or a control condition.

Here, we report the development of a novel polymer composite (PC) purification column and kit. The performance of the PC columns was compared to conventional silica gel (SG) columns for the purification of nucleic acids from coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-2, in 82 clinical samples. The results shows that PC-based purification outperforms silica gel (SG)-based purification by enabling a higher sensitivity (94%), accuracy (97%), and by eliminating false positives (100% specificity).

Study Design: Participants included 48 children with prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) and 43 controls, ages 8-17 years, from the longitudinal Collaborative Initiative on FASD s. Recently published lifespan brain charts were used to quantify participants' (per)centile for brain volumes (cortical and subcortical gray matter and cortical white matter), providing an index of (dis)similarity to typically developing individuals of the same age and sex.

Background: Prenatal and early postnatal choline supplementation reduces cognitive and behavioral deficits in animal models of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). In a previously published 9-month clinical trial of choline supplementation in children with FASD, we reported that postnatal choline was associated with improved performance on a hippocampal-dependent recognition memory task. The current paper describes the neurophysiological correlates of that memory performance for trial completers.
