To investigate trends in awards funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) focusing on sexual and gender minoritized (SGM) populations from 2012 to 2022 in the United States. Replicating the method of Coulter et al., we identified NIH-funded awards for SGM research from 2012 to 2022 using the NIH RePORTER (Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tools Expenditures and Results) system.

While emerging viral infections have regularly dominated public health attention, which has only intensified after the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous bacterial diseases have previously caused, and continue to cause, significant morbidity and mortality-deserving equal attention. Three potentially life-threatening endemic bacterial diseases (leptospirosis, melioidosis, and rickettsioses) are a huge public health concern especially in low- and middle-income countries.

Localized prostate cancer can be cured by radiation or surgery, but advanced prostate cancer continues to be a clinical challenge. Aims: Many studies have utilized data sources such as clinical variables, polygenic risk scores, electrocardiogram (ECG), and plasma proteins to predict the risk of atrial fibrillation (AF). Performance of a task involves the engagement of various brain areas, as evidenced by the effects of lesions of particular brain areas and the results of functional neuroimaging and neurophysiological studies. Here we tested the hypothesis that overall task performance would depend on the level of ongoing, resting-state change in synaptic activity of participating areas, such that the degree of success of the outcome would be higher, the higher the resting-state activation. For that purpose, we used 248-sensor magnetoencephalography (MEG) in healthy people to obtain estimates of resting-state synaptic activity in various areas and then correlated those estimates to the average performance score in three visuospatial tasks assessed outside the MEG session using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), namely the Trails, Cube, and Clock Drawing (TCCD) tasks.
