Purpose: Data are sparse for oral selective estrogen receptor (ER) degraders (SERD) in cancer treatment. The investigational oral SERD LSZ102 was assessed in monotherapy and combination use in a phase I study.
Patients And Methods: A phase I, multicenter, open-label dose-escalation study (NCT02734615) of LSZ102 alone (arm A; = 77) or with ribociclib (arm B; = 78) or alpelisib (arm C; = 43) in heavily pretreated adults with histologically confirmed ER-positive breast cancer and prior disease progression.

Background/aim: Cell migration and invasion are fundamental components of tumor cell metastasis that represent the biggest threat to the survival and quality of life of cancer patients. There is clear evidence that ionizing radiation can differently modulate migration and invasiveness of cancer cells depending on the cell lines, the doses and the radiation types investigated. This suggests that motile cells are able to adopt different migration strategies according to their molecular characteristics and external signals.

Article Synopsis
- - The study evaluated the effectiveness of a 70-gene signature test (MammaPrint) in predicting outcomes for women with early-stage breast cancer, comparing genomic and clinical risk factors to decide on chemotherapy treatment.
- - Out of 6693 enrolled women, 1550 were identified with high clinical risk but low genomic risk, and those not receiving chemotherapy showed a 5-year survival rate without distant metastasis of 94.7%.
- - The findings suggest that some women at high clinical risk may safely forego chemotherapy based on low genomic risk, as their survival rates were comparable to those who received treatment.
