The stability of ursodiol in an extemporaneous oral liquid formulation refrigerated at 4 degrees C for 35 days was studied. A suspension was prepared by opening commercially available 300-mg capsules of ursodiol, adding Glycerin, USP, to form a paste, and then adding Simple Syrup, NF. A control solution was prepared from analytical-grade ursodiol powder in simple syrup.

Pharmacist participation in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including the basic life support (BLS) activities of artificial respiration and chest compressions, was studied. A questionnaire was mailed in September 1991 to the 197 graduates (1986-90) of a Michigan college of pharmacy requiring BLS training for graduation. Another questionnaire was mailed in April 1992 to the 181 pharmacy directors at all general acute-care hospitals in Michigan.

Characteristics of unclaimed prescriptions at a university hospital's ambulatory care pharmacy were determined, and reasons why prescriptions went unclaimed were identified. Over a 15-week period, 522 unclaimed prescriptions for 344 patients were identified. Patient and prescription data for these unclaimed prescriptions were obtained from pharmacy records.

Lyme disease and the use of tick repellents and physical protective measures to prevent the disease are discussed. Lyme disease is a multiple-organ-system, immune-mediated inflammatory disorder transmitted by the bites of ixodid ticks infected with Borrelia burgdorferi.
