Objectives: To examine whether adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and physical punishment (ie, spanking) are unique risk factors for behavior problems in early childhood, and whether ACEs moderate the associations of spanking with child behavior problems.
Study Design: We conducted prospective, longitudinal analyses on 2380 families in the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study. Mothers reported outcomes of externalizing and internalizing behavior problems at age 5 years; and the main predictors, ACEs and spanking, at age 3 years.

Background: A commonly cited theory related to the pathomechanics of patellofemoral pain (PFP) states that atrophy of the vastus medialis (VM) muscle leads to lateral tracking of the patella. However, isolated atrophy of the VM or atrophy of the quadriceps muscle group as a whole, has not been consistently reported in this population.
Purpose: To compare individual and total quadriceps muscle volumes between women with nontraumatic PFP and women without PFP as measured on magnetic resonance imaging scans.

Background: The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends that pregnant women engage in at least 20 to 30 min of moderate-intensity physical activity on most days of the week. Regular exercise during pregnancy is associated with many benefits for the mother and the developing fetus; yet, a large number of pregnant women do not engage in the recommended amounts. This study aimed to investigate barriers to and interventions for physical activity among pregnant WIC participants in Southern California.

Sedentary behavior (SB) and physical activity (PA) are important risk factors of cardiovascular disease morbidity and mortality. In addition to increasing the amount of moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA), the current PA guidelines recommend that adults should reduce SB, or any waking activity performed while sitting, reclining, or lying, with low energy expenditure. While mounting evidence has emphasized the benefits of increasing MVPA, little has focused on the effect of SB on health.

Increasing active school travel (AST) among children may provide the required level of daily physical activity and reduce the prevalence of obesity. Despite efforts to promote this mode, recent evidence shows that AST rates continue to decrease in suburban and urban areas alike. The aim of this research study, therefore, is to facilitate our understanding of how objective and perceived factors near the home influence children's AST in an understudied city, İstanbul, Turkey.

A highly sensitive AIE fluorescent chemosensor, N'-((4'-(6,6-dimethyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-1H-5,7-methanoindazol-3-yl)-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-yl)methylene)picolinohydrazide (PBPHS), for the detection of Hg2+ and Cu2+ ions in near 100% aqueous solution was developed based on the renewable β-pinene derivative nopinone. The probe PBPHS was designed and synthesized via a four reaction steps, including condensation, cyclization, Suzuki coupling reaction, and Schiff-base reaction. PBPHS could recognize Hg2+ and Cu2+ over other competitive metal ions via specific complexation ability towards them.

Wavelength shifting photon detection systems (PDS) are the critical functioning components in noble liquid detectors used for high energy physics (HEP) experiments and dark matter search. The vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) scintillation light emitted by these Liquid argon (LAr) and liquid Xenon (LXe) detectors are shifted to higher wavelengths resulting in its efficient detection using the state-of-the-art photodetectors such as silicon photomultipliers (SiPM). The currently used organic wavelength shifting materials [such as 1,1,4,4 Tetraphenyl Butadiene (TPB)] have several disadvantages and are unreliable for longterm use.

Background: Since its development in 1994, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) has been successfully used to assess structural and functional changes to neurological tissue within the central nervous system. Namely, DTI is a noninvasive magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based technique that uses anisotropic diffusion to visualize and estimate the organization of white matter in neuronal tissue. It has been used to study various spinal pathologies including neoplastic diseases, degenerative myelopathy, demyelinating diseases, and infections involving the spinal cord.
