The synthesis techniques used for metal oxide semiconductors strongly influence their chemical, physical and gas sensing characteristics. In this context, hematite (α-FeO) nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized using two different techniques, namely, sol-gel (named H) and Pechini sol-gel (named H). The average crystallite size and surface area were 15 nm and 76 m g and 20 nm and 57 m g for H and H, respectively.

Aims: To evaluate the effect of nutritional therapy on glycemic compensation and key cardio-renal risk markers in patients with diabetes and kidney transplant, on insulin treatment by Multiple Daily Injection (MDI) or Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion (CSII).
Methods: 34 patients with diabetes on insulin treatment and kidney transplant recipients were enrolled;12 participated in the structured nutritional program (intervention group), 22 patients (control group) did not receive nutritional protocol. Both groups were then divided into subgroups according to the method of insulin administration (MDI and CSII).

Due to its large use in different industrial sectors, high toxicity, and corrosion, the demand for sensing techniques towards ammonia gas has become urgent. In this study we report on the sensing performances of a conductometric sensor for NH gas based on Ca-doped ZnO nanoparticles with different calcium concentrations (0, 1, and 3 at%) synthesized using the sol-gel process under supercritical dry conditions of ethanol. All samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.

Objectives: To evaluate the feasibility of loco-regional anaesthesia and to compare perioperative outcomes between loco-regional and standard general anaesthesia in patients with bladder cancer undergoing open radical cystectomy (ORC).
Patients And Methods: A single-surgeon cohort of 60 consecutive patients with bladder cancer undergoing ORC with an enhanced recovery after surgery protocol between May 2020 and December 2021 was analysed. A study group of 15 patients operated on under combined spinal and epidural anaesthesia was compared with a control group of 45 patients receiving standard general anaesthesia.
The aim of this study was to identify phenolic compounds in walnut leaves from northern Iraq and evaluate their ability to act as antibacterial and antioxidant agents. Phenolic compounds were determined by reversed-phase HPLC. Antibacterial activity was tested against various bacteria.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to assess the aetiology, perioperative outcomes and treatment failure of contemporary patients undergoing open or robot-assisted ureteral reconstruction for iatrogenic injuries.
Patients And Methods: We retrospectively analysed consecutive patients who underwent ureteral reconstruction for iatrogenic injuries at two academic centres 07/2013 and 06/2022. A variety of open or robot-assisted procedures were performed, including uretero-cystoneostomy, Boari bladder flap, uretero-ureterostomy, ileal replacement and pyelo-ureteroplasty.

Background: To date, a few studies have systematically investigated differences in the clinical spectrum between acquired and idiopathic dystonias.
Objectives: To compare demographic data and clinical features in patients with adult-onset acquired and idiopathic dystonias.
Methods: Patients were identified from among those included in the Italian Dystonia Registry, a multicenter Italian dataset of patients with adult-onset dystonia.
Background Empiric antimicrobial therapy with azithromycin is highly used in patients admitted to the hospital with COVID-19, despite prior research suggesting that azithromycin may be associated with increased risk of cardiovascular events. Methods and Results This study was conducted using data from the ISACS-COVID-19 (International Survey of Acute Coronavirus Syndromes-COVID-19) registry. Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection were eligible for inclusion.

Background: Effects of dopaminergic medications used to treat Parkinson's disease (PD) may be compared with each other by using conversion factors, calculated as Levodopa equivalent dose (LED). However, current LED proposals on MAO-B inhibitors (iMAO-B) safinamide and rasagiline are still based on empirical approaches.
Objectives: To estimate LED of safinamide 50 and 100 mg.

A 68-year-old man was admitted with ST-elevation myocardial infarction and intense rash. He was diagnosed with type 2 Kounis syndrome elicited by drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome and received complete revascularization with percutaneous coronary intervention. This case highlights the complex pathophysiology of acute coronary syndrome, and the elusive link between coronary occlusion and ST-segment deviations at ECG.

Zhu-Tokita-Tachenouchi-Kim syndrome (ZTTK) is a recently recognized malformation syndrome presenting with craniofacial dysmorphism, developmental delay/intellectual disability, seizures, anomalies involving brain white matter, and other body-organs. In humans, the disorder is linked to the loss-of-function variants in the gene (MIM# 617140). Herewith, a new case of this syndrome is reported in a 2-year-old Caucasian child who presented the classical clinical features of the ZTTK syndrome in association with hydrocephalus and Chiari malformations type 1 an anomaly previously unreported.

Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the effects of motor training on attention, reaching skills, and stereotypies in patients with Rett syndrome (RTT).
Methods: Twenty-eight participants with RTT underwent cognitive and motor assessment to evaluate attention, reaching skills and stereotypies with an ABABABA design: before training (pre-test phase), after a month of training (post-test phase 1), after a month of the second training phase (post-test phase 2) and at 1 month after the third training phase (post-test phase 3).
The present paper aims to investigate the ecological role of , Linnaeus, 1758, in southern and central Tyrrhenian Sea (GSA 10, Resolution GFCM/33/2009/2 General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean), analyzing ontogenetic diet shifts, geographical variations on prey composition, and feeding habits. A total of 734 hake specimens ranging in size between 6 cm and 73 cm (Total Length, TL) were collected in 2018. In order to evaluate ontogenetic shifts in prey composition, samples were divided into five size classes and for each class the quantitative feeding indices have been calculated.

A territorial hospital alliance can become a strength in asthma management, where control by GPs can also be carried out through a spirometric examination.
Methods: The realisation of a telecounselling model management of asthma between GPs and specialists was the aim of this study, to understand how to obtain good asthma control.

Aim: To investigate the in vivo skeletal muscle metabolism in patients with β-enolase deficiency (GSDXIII) during exercise, and the effect of glucose infusion.
Methods: Three patients with GSDXIII and 10 healthy controls performed a nonischemic handgrip test as well as an incremental cycle ergometer test measuring maximal oxidative consumption (VO) and a 1-hour submaximal cycle test at an intensity of 65% to 75% of VO. The patients repeated the submaximal exercise after 2 days, where they received a 10% iv-glucose supplementation.
