Article Synopsis
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common airway disease, and inhaled bronchodilators, like navafenterol, are being explored as effective treatment options to manage symptoms and improve patients' quality of life.
  • Navafenterol works as a bifunctional bronchodilator, showing promising results in preclinical and clinical studies by enhancing lung function and reducing symptoms like dyspnea and cough in moderate-to-severe COPD patients.
  • Although the evidence for navafenterol's effectiveness is still developing, it indicates the need for more clinical research and potential exploration of combinations with other treatments, particularly with other bifunctional molecules.

Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology of Targu Mures, Targu Mures, Romania.

Background: Assisted reproductive technology (ART) has allowed couples with a family history of a monogenic genetic disease, or a disease-carrying gene, to reduce the chance of them having a child with the genetic disorder. This is achieved by genetically testing the embryos using an advanced process called preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic or single gene disorders (PGT-M), such as Huntington's disease or cystic fibrosis. This current terminology (PGT-M) has replaced the formerly-known preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD).

Duplex echography provides a noninvasive objective evaluation of tissue perfusion. The authors hypothesized that duplex echography may be a more sensitive and specific monitoring method for early detection of postoperative flap compromise compared to clinical examination alone.

There has been a continuous effort to understand possible non-Ca metabolism roles of vitamin D, including its role in the immune system and, in particular, in T cell-medicated immunity.
