: Endometrial carcinoma is one of the most common gynecological cancers, and benign lesions such as endometrial hyperplasia, polyps, adenomyosis and leiomyomas should be included in the differential diagnosis. Magnetic resonance imaging has an important role in evaluating endometrial cancer and assessing the depth of myometrial invasion, and it closely correlates with the prognosis of the patient. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the MRI semiology of the endometrial carcinomas that mimic benign lesions, the main factors that may affect the correct diagnosis and the feasibility of magnetic resonance imaging to evaluate the depth of the myometrial invasion of endometrial cancer.

Background: Peripheral artery disease is a condition that causes narrowing of the arteries, impairing circulation to the extremities. Globally, it affects millions of people and is more prevalent in older adults and those with diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol. There is an overlap specific to polyvascular patients, and almost 50% of patients with PAD have coronary artery disease.

SARS-CoV-2 infection is a significant health concern that needs to be addressed not only during the initial phase of infection but also after hospitalization. This is the consequence of the various pathologies associated with long COVID-19, which are still being studied and researched. Lung fibrosis is an important complication after COVID-19, found in up to 71% of patients after discharge.

Patients with immune-mediated rheumatic disease-related calcinosis comprise a subgroup at risk of encountering a more severe clinical outcome. Early assessment is pivotal for preventing overall disease progression, as calcinosis is commonly overlooked until several years into the disease and is considered as a 'non-lethal' manifestation. This single-center retrospective study explored the prevalence, clinical associations, and impact on survival of subcutaneous calcinosis in 86 patients with immune-mediated rheumatic diseases (IMRD).

Gaining practical experience is indispensable for medical students. Therefore, when medical students were prevented access to hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic in Romania, there was an urgent need to find a solution that would allow medical students to develop the skills they would usually develop in hospitals but without the need to be physically present in a hospital. This was the reason behind the idea of developing a Virtual Case Presentation Platform.

High-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) remains a medical challenge despite considerable improvements in the treatment. Unfortunately, over 75% of patients have already metastasized at the time of diagnosis. Advances in understanding the mechanisms underlying how ascites cause chemoresistance are urgently needed to derive novel therapeutic strategies.

Objective: New modes of action and more data on the efficacy and safety of existing drugs in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) required an update of the EULAR 2019 recommendations for the pharmacological treatment of PsA.
Methods: Following EULAR standardised operating procedures, the process included a systematic literature review and a consensus meeting of 36 international experts in April 2023. Levels of evidence and grades of recommendations were determined.

Aortic stenosis is the most prevalent valvular heart disease requiring intervention, especially in the elderly population. Surgical aortic valve replacement and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) are well established treatment options for symptomatic patients with severe aortic stenosis, as they provide a significant survival benefit. Aortic stenosis may have an important impact on patients' quality of life (QoL).

Neurodegenerative diseases are defined by progressive nervous system dysfunction and death of neurons. The abnormal conformation and assembly of proteins is suggested to be the most probable cause for many of these neurodegenerative disorders, leading to the accumulation of abnormally aggregated proteins, for example, amyloid β (Aβ) (Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia), tau protein (Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal lobar degeneration), α-synuclein (Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia), polyglutamine expansion diseases (Huntington disease), or prion proteins (Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease). An aberrant gain-of-function mechanism toward excessive intraparenchymal accumulation thus represents a common pathogenic denominator in all these proteinopathies.

Background: In the intensive care unit (ICU) patients, fluid overload and congestion are associated with worse outcomes. Because of the heterogeneity of ICU patients, we hypothesized that there may exist different endotypes of congestion. The aim of this study was to identify endotypes of congestion and their association with outcomes.

Background: Patent foramen ovale (PFO) is a prevalent cardiac remnant of fetal anatomy that may pose a risk factor for stroke in some patients, while others can present with asymptomatic white matter (WM) lesions. The current study aimed to test the hypothesis that patients with a PFO who have a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack, compared to those without such a history, have a different burden and distribution of cerebral WM hyperintensities. Additionally, we tested the association between PFO morphological characteristics and severity of shunt, and their impact on the occurrence of ischemic cerebral vascular events and on the burden of cerebral WM lesions.

Patent foramen ovale (PFO) is a common cardiac anomaly linked with cryptogenic strokes and migraine, particularly migraine with aura. This study aims to explore the spectrum of headache disorders in PFO patients, focusing on identifying patterns beyond the well-established migraine-PFO connection. A retrospective observational study was conducted on patients diagnosed with PFO.

: IgA nephropathy (IgAN), the most common primary glomerulonephritis, has been extensively studied for renal outcomes, with limited data on patient survival, particularly in Eastern Europe. We aimed to investigate the long-term survival rate of patients with IgAN and the associated risk factors in an Eastern European cohort. : We conducted a retrospective analysis of 215 IgAN patients (median age 44, 71% male) diagnosed at a Romanian tertiary center between 2010 and 2017.

The progression of SARS-CoV-2 infection has been linked to a hospitalization rate of 20%. The susceptibility of SARS-CoV-2 infection increases with age, resulting in severe and atypical clinical forms of the disease. The severity of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the elderly population can be attributed to several factors, including the overexpression of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptors, immunosenescence, and alterations in the intestinal microbiota that facilitate the cytokine storm.
