This study compared radiologic and ultrasonographic methods of evaluation of patella position. The radiologic examination was based on the evaluation of Insall and Salvati's index (I-S index), whereas the ultrasonographic examination was based on the determination of analogous coefficient called the patellar tendon-patellar coefficient (T-P coefficient). The total number of examined knee joints was 55 in 30 patients (13 children, aged 7-16 years and 17 adults aged 17-39 years) with knee pain.

The results of ultrasonographic examinations of the patellar height in the knee joints in children was subjected to analysis. The study aimed at the specification of a norm of patellar height in the developmental age, based on the tendon-patellar coefficient (analogous to the radiologic measurement according to Insall and Salvati). The results of ultrasonographic and clinical examinations of 114 knee joints performed in 57 healthy children were used for the study.

The clinical appearance of hamstring shortening in 10 patients referred with diagnosis of asymmetry of the trunk, scoliosis, postural defect, strange gait, and back pain is reported. Additionally, an assessment of knee extension deficit (KED) angle in 575 healthy children (4-15 years of age) was performed. The mean KED angle in the group of healthy children was 35 degrees (SD = 14 degrees).

The purpose of the study was to determine if measurements of the NMR relaxation times could be useful in distinguishing healthy from neoplasmatic tissue in in vitro study of the slices from the large bowel obtained during surgery before histological examination. Tissue samples taken from the center of the tumor and from the distal part of the excised large bowel segment were stored at 4 degrees C in closed tubes not longer than 24 hours. The measurements were performed at 37 degrees C using a pulse spectrometer operating at 27 MHz.
