Parental Style, Grandchild Problematic Behaviors, and Parental Role Demands Among Grandparent Caregivers.

The present study evaluates the impact of grandchild distress on parental competence as mediated by Baumrind's parental styles in a sample of 238 custodial grandparents ( age = 58.06). AMOS structural equation findings yielded a model which indicated that both the Laissez-Faire and Authoritarian styles each predicted role stress and/or parental efficacy.

Formative evaluation of an emergency department clinical decision support system for agitation symptoms: a study protocol.

Introduction: The burden of mental health-related visits to emergency departments (EDs) is growing, and agitation episodes are prevalent with such visits. Best practice guidance from experts recommends early assessment of at-risk populations and pre-emptive intervention using de-escalation techniques to prevent agitation. Time pressure, fluctuating work demands, and other systems-related factors pose challenges to efficient decision-making and adoption of best practice recommendations during an unfolding behavioural crisis.

Background: The aim of this research was to asses perfusion-defect detection-accuracy by human observers as a function of reduced-counts for 3D Gaussian post-reconstruction filtering vs deep learning (DL) denoising to determine if there was improved performance with DL.

Methods: SPECT projection data of 156 normally interpreted patients were used for these studies. Half were altered to include hybrid perfusion defects with defect presence and location known.

Objectives: We evaluated the effect of a nutrition education intervention on bone stress injury (BSI) incidence among female distance runners at two NCAA Division I institutions.

Methods: Historical BSI rates were measured retrospectively (2010-2013); runners were then followed prospectively in pilot (2013-2016) and intervention (2016-2020) phases. The primary aim was to compare BSI rates in the historical and intervention phases.

Potential impacts of titanium dioxide nanoparticles on trace metal speciation in estuarine sediments.

Engineered titanium dioxide (TiO) nanoparticles (NPs) are widely used and consequently released into the environment. The subsequent accumulation of TiO NPs in depositional environments may affect the geochemical behavior of trace metals, which needs to be assessed. Here, we performed experiments to investigate the speciation change for molybdenum and tungsten in the presence of TiO NPs.

Beyond the Lab: Empirically Supported Treatments in the Real World.

Laboratory studies of empirically supported treatments (ESTs) for mental health problems achieve much higher rates of clinical improvement than has been observed following treatment in the community. This discrepancy is likely to due to limited reliance on ESTs by therapists outside of academia. Concerns about the generalizability of ESTs to patients in the community, who may have comorbid problems, likely limit rates of adoption.
