Objective: Our investigation compared throughput metrics and utilization measures for freestanding emergency departments (FSEDs) versus hospital-based emergency departments (HBEDs) of similar volumes in the United States.
Methods: This study is a cross sectional survey of 183 FSEDs and 317 HBEDs located across the United States using the Emergency Department Benchmarking Alliance (EDBA) Database. We measured common emergency department (ED) throughput metrics.

Background Direct-acting oral anticoagulant (DOAC) dosing guidelines for atrial fibrillation recommend dose alteration based on age, renal function, body weight, and drug-drug interactions. There is paucity of data describing the frequency and factors associated with prescription of potentially inappropriate doses. Methods and Results In the ongoing SAGE-AF (Systematic Assessment of Geriatric Elements in Atrial Fibrillation) study, we performed geriatric assessments (frailty, cognitive impairment, sensory impairments, social isolation, and depression) for participants with atrial fibrillation (age ≥65 years, CHADSVASc ≥2, no anticoagulant contraindications).

Elderly falls are a healthcare epidemic. We aimed to identify risk factors of serious falls by linking data on functional status from the Global Longitudinal Study of Osteoporosis in Women (GLOW) and our institutional trauma registry. 124 of 5,091 local women enrolled in GLOW were evaluated by our trauma team for injuries related to a fall during the study period.

Context: Acute pancreatitis in ectopic pancreatic tissue is an uncommon cause of acute abdominal pain and can be difficult to diagnose on imaging. Our aim is to raise awareness and aid in the diagnosis of this entity by highlighting helpful dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI imaging findings.
Case Report: We report a 51-year-old man with acute onset epigastric pain presented to ER.

Commissioning of a Radionics miniature multi-leaf collimator (MMLC) for stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) is reported. With single isocenter and multi static fields, the MMLC can provide better conformity of dose distributions to the target and/or irregularly shaped target volumes than standard arc (circular) field beams with multiple isocenters. Advantages offered by the MMLC over traditional LINAC based SRS and SRT includes greatly improved dose homogeneity to the target, reduced patient positioning time and reduced treatment time.
