Graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) can act as metal-free photocatalysts to remove aqueous dye pollutants under light illumination. However, there is some disparity in past reports on the origin of the photoactivity of GO and rGO for photodegradation of dye pollutants. In this work, the photoactivity of GO and rGO for methylene blue (MB) dye photodegradation were investigated with photoelectrochemical (PEC) measurements.

Background: Extramammary Paget's disease (EMPD) is a rare malignant disease originating from the apocrine glands involving the perineum, vulva, axilla, scrotum, and penis.

Objective: To study the clinical presentation, extent of disease, efficacy of treatment, and survival outcomes of the cases in a single institution.

Methods: Retrospective observation data analysis of 19 EMPD cases was performed.

The southern lesser pomfret () is an economically important fish, and its numbers are declining because of overfishing and environmental pollution. In addition, owing to the similarities of its external morphological characteristics to other species in the genus , it is often mistaken for grey pomfret () or silver pomfret () juveniles. In this study, the genetic diversity and structure of 264 individuals from 11 populations in China and Malaysia coastal waters were evaluated for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, using mitochondrial cytochrome b fragments.

Background And Aim: While adenoma detection rate (ADR) is an important quality metric for screening colonoscopy, it remains difficult to be accessed due to the lack of integrated endoscopy and pathology databases. Hence, the use of an adenoma-to-polyp detection rate quotient and polyp detection rate (PDR) has been proposed to predict ADR. This study aimed to examine the usefulness of estimated ADR across different colonic segments in two age groups for Shenzhen people in China.

Females and males reared from pupae, their pupal exuviae and cocoons, and mature larvae of the Simulium (Gomphostilbia) asakoae species group from various localities in Thailand were morphologically examined. A total of 25 species was identified, including two of four known species ( Takaoka & Davies and Takaoka & Srisuka), one newly confirmed species ( Takaoka, Srisuka & Saeung, originally described from Myanmar), one newly transferred species ( Takaoka & Suzuki formerly of the species group), and 21 new species. Descriptions of all 21 new species are given, and the first full description of the male of , together with the revised descriptions of its female, pupa, and larva, is also provided.

Liver diseases form a heterogenous group of acute and chronic disorders of varying etiologies. Not only do they result in significant morbidity and mortality, but they also lead to a marked reduction in quality of life, together with a high socioeconomic burden globally. A better understanding of their global distribution is necessary to curb the massive health-care and socioeconomic burden that they entail.

The COVID-19 pandemic, secondary to SARS-CoV-2, has resulted in high mortality and morbidity worldwide. As inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic disease, and most patients are on long-term immunosuppressive agents, there is understandable concern, particularly in terms of therapy. In view of this, experts in IBD across the Asia Pacific region were invited to put together recommendations based on their experience and the currently available data.

A platinum-silver graphene (Pt-Ag/Gr) nanocomposite modified electrode was fabricated for the electrochemical detection of dopamine (DA). Electrochemical studies of the Pt-Ag/Gr nanocomposite towards DA detection were performed by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The CV analysis showed that Pt-Ag/Gr/GCE had enhanced electrocatalytic activity towards DA oxidation due to the synergistic effects between the platinum-silver nanoparticles and graphene.

A new series of lanthanum(iii) complexes was synthesized using a -anisidine-appended 1-hydroxy-2-acetonapthanone (3) Schiff base and characterized spectroscopic methods. The ligand was synthesized sonication and the crystalline product was characterized using X-ray crystallography. The genotoxicity of the compound was assessed primarily by the bacterial reverse mutation (Ames) test and the mammalian chromosome aberration test; in both cases, the samarium complex 5 was found to be non-mutagenic.

Introduction: This study aimed to determine the views and practices of healthcare providers and barriers they encountered when implementing the national health screening program for men in a public primary care setting in Malaysia.

Methods: An online survey was conducted among healthcare providers across public health clinics in Malaysia. All family medicine specialists, medical officers, nurses and assistant medical officers involved in the screening program for adult men were invited to answer a 51-item questionnaire via email or WhatsApp.

HIV infection is a global pandemic that affects CD4 cells in the immune system and leads to lethal opportunistic infections. The advent of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) has induced a marked reduction in the viral load and an increase in the CD4 cell count, thereby changing the course of the disease from an acute life-threatening condition to chronic disease. Accordingly, need and demand for oral rehabilitation in HIV positive population have increased in recent years.

Marine Park and Resource Management Division, Department of Fisheries Malaysia, Putrajaya, 62628, Malaysia Marine Park and Resource Management Division, Department of Fisheries Malaysia Putrajaya, 62628 Malaysia.

Background: Redang Islands Marine Park consists of nine islands in the state of Terengganu, Malaysia. Redang Island is one of the largest off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, which is famous for its crystal-clear waters and white sandy beaches. The ichthyofauna of the Redang archipelago was surveyed by underwater visual observations between August 2016 and May 2018.

In this work, reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was fabricated at different reduction temperatures an environmentally friendly solvothermal approach. The rGO formed at 160 °C clearly showed the partial restoration of the sp hybridization brought about by the elimination of oxygenated functionalities from the surface. Owing to the augmented surface area and the band gap reduction, rGO-160 exhibited the best adsorption (29.

Marine fungal biodiversity remains vastly understudied, and even less is known of their biogeography and the processes responsible for driving these distributions in marine environments. We investigated the fungal communities associated with the seagrass collected from Singapore and Peninsular Malaysia to test the hypothesis that fungal communities are homogeneous throughout the study area. Seagrass samples were separated into different structures (leaves, roots, and rhizomes), and a sediment sample was collected next to each plant.

Background And Aim: To date, there are limited data on the applicability of cathepsin D for the diagnosis and monitoring of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

Methods: This study included patients with biopsy-proven non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) diagnosed between November 2012 and October 2015. Serum cathepsin D levels were measured using the CatD enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (USCN Life Science, Wuhan, China) using stored samples collected on the same day of the liver biopsy procedure.
