Objectives: Daily-use fluoride products are first-line protection against enamel wear from dietary-acid exposure (DAE). This study aimed to understand effects of fluoride concentration, fluoride salt, product form and ingredients in daily-use products on remineralisation and demineralisation, via network meta-analysis (NMA) of 14 studies using one well-established in-situ model. Remineralisation (surface-microhardness recovery, SHMR) after treatment, and protection against subsequent demineralisation (acid-resistance ratio, ARR) were measured.

Background: Haptics-enhanced virtual reality (VR-haptic) simulation in dental education has evolved considerably during the past decade, representing a promising resource of simulation-based training opportunities to support conventional practice. We aim to summarize current literature on the applications of VR-haptics in learning, practicing, and teaching dental education.
Methods: A literature search was performed using PubMed, focusing on research articles published between January 2010 and January 2024.

Screening is widely believed to facilitate early detection and improve health outcomes; however, recent evidence questions its overall benefits, highlighting the need for a critical assessment of cancer screening programs. The simplicity of clinical oral examination and the easy accessibility of the oral cavity make oral cancer a suitable candidate for opportunistic screening. Despite this uniqueness, studies that solidly assess the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of oral cancer screening are scanty, and the only large randomized trial undertaken so far shows limited evidence of mortality reduction through population screening.

Importance: For hospitalized critically ill adults with suspected sepsis, procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP) monitoring protocols can guide the duration of antibiotic therapy, but the evidence of the effect and safety of these protocols remains uncertain.
Objective: To determine whether decisions based on assessment of CRP or PCT safely results in a reduction in the duration of antibiotic therapy.
Design, Setting, And Participants: A multicenter, intervention-concealed randomized clinical trial, involving 2760 adults (≥18 years), in 41 UK National Health Service (NHS) intensive care units, requiring critical care within 24 hours of initiating intravenous antibiotics for suspected sepsis and likely to continue antibiotics for at least 72 hours.

The clinical practice guidelines and recommendations produced by various societies should demonstrate a considerable level of consistency in terms of quality, regardless of the society that developed these given the common evidence base. However, to date, no study has assessed the quality of PCa clinical practice guidelines.

This literature review critically examines the historical, current, and prospective dimensions of sternal wound reconstruction in the specific context of deep sternal wound infection (DSWI), aiming to enhance patient outcomes and optimise surgical techniques. Preventive measures, including prophylactic antibiotic administration and surgical site preparation, are crucial in reducing the incidence of DSWI. Effective management necessitates a multidisciplinary approach encompassing surgical debridement, drainage, and sternum repair utilising diverse procedures in conjunction with antibiotic therapy.

Objective: The objective of this study was to report 52-week safety and efficacy of ianalumab from phase 2b dose-finding study in patients with Sjögren's disease (SjD).
Methods: Patients randomly received (1:1:1:1) ianalumab (5, 50, or 300 mg) or placebo subcutaneously every 4 weeks until week 24 (treatment period [TP]1). At week 24, patients on 300 mg were rerandomized to continue 300 mg or receive placebo until week 52 (TP2), patients on placebo were switched to ianalumab 150 mg, and patients on 5 and 50 mg directly entered posttreatment safety follow-up.

Evidence shows that the majority of OMFS trainees undertook dentistry as their first degree, however, an increasing number of undergraduates undertaking OMFS training have completed medicine first. It is vital that all undergraduates wanting to commit to another degree have adequate exposure to, and understanding of, the specialty. The aim of our study was to evaluate the perspectives of final-year dental students concerning their exposure to, and perceptions of, OMFS during their undergraduate teaching.
