Eur J Radiol

November 2018

PMOI Physiopathology of Inflammatory Bone Diseases, EA 4490, University of Lille Nord de France, Lille, France; Lille Catholic University Hospitals, Imaging Department, Lille Catholic University, Lille, France. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated variations in semi-quantitative and permeability parameters during DCE-MRI of normal striated muscles in 44 participants (20 women and 24 men) with a mean age of 39.1 years.
  • Two types of regions of interest (ROI) were analyzed in twelve different muscles, showing good intra-observer agreement but poor inter-observer agreement on measurement accuracy.
  • Significant inter-individual variation was found in muscle perfusion parameters, potentially leading to errors in interpreting muscle DCE-MRI studies, indicating a need for improved acquisition protocols and post-processing methods.

Department of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, APHM, Timone Hospital, Aix-Marseille University, Marseille, France; Department of Public Health -EA 3279 Research Unit, Marseille University Hospital, Aix-Marseille University, Marseille, France. Electronic address:

We previously reported in a French prospective randomized study that transplantation of 2 unrelated cord blood (UCB) units instead of 1 unit does not decrease the risk of transplantation failure but may enhance alloreactivity. Here we evaluated the influence of pretransplantation minimal residual disease (MRD) on leukemia relapse and survival after single- versus double-UCB transplantation (UCBT). Among 137 children and young adults who underwent UCBT in this randomized study, 115 had available data on MRD assessment done immediately before initiation of the pretransplantation conditioning regimen.

When predictive information about target motion is available, anticipatory smooth pursuit eye movements (aSPEM) are consistently generated before target appearance, thereby reducing the typical sensorimotor delay between target motion onset and foveation. By manipulating the probability for target motion direction, we were able to bias the direction and mean velocity of aSPEM. This suggests that motion-direction expectancy has a strong effect on the initiation of anticipatory movements.

Inserm Unité Mixte de Recherche 1153, Obstetrical, Perinatal, and Pediatric Epidemiology Research Team (EPOPé), Center for Epidemiology and Statistics Sorbonne Paris Cité, Département Hospitalo-Universitaire Risks in Pregnancy, Paris Descartes University, Paris, France; Sorbonne Universités, Université Pierre and Marie Curie Paris 06, Institut de Formation Doctorale, Paris, France; Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Trousseau Hospital, Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris, Paris, France.

Background: Most clinical guidelines state that with early preterm premature rupture of membranes, obstetric and pediatric teams must share a realistic and individualized appraisal of neonatal outcomes with parents and consider their wishes for all decisions. However, we currently lack reliable and relevant data, according to gestational age at rupture of membranes, to adequately counsel parents during pregnancy and to reflect on our policies of care at these extreme gestational ages.

Objective: We sought to describe both perinatal and 2-year outcomes of preterm infants born after preterm premature rupture of membranes at 22-25 weeks' gestation.

In this study, pattern formation during evaporation of bidispersed drops (containing 1 and 3.2 μm particles) placed on a smooth substrate at different temperatures is investigated. Five distinctive deposition patterns are observed depending on the substrate temperature: a relatively uniform pattern enclosed by a disk-shaped ring, a nearly nonuniform pattern inside a thick outer ring, a "dual-ring" pattern, a "rose-like" pattern, and a set of concentric rings corresponding to the "stick-slip" pattern.

EA 7366, Host-Pathogens Translational Research Group, Faculty of Medicine of Lille, University of Lille Nord de France, F-59000 Lille, France.

While NLRC4-dependent sensing of intracellular Gram-negative pathogens such as Salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium is a beneficial host response, NLRC4-dependent sensing of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa type 3 secretion system (T3SS) has been shown to be involved in pathogenicity. In mice, different pathogen-associated microbial patterns are sensed by the combination of the NLRC4-inflammasome with different neuronal apoptosis inhibitory proteins (NAIPs). NAIP2 is involved in sensing PscI, an inner-rod protein of the P.
