This paper studies the consensus problem for a class of unknown heterogeneous nonlinear multi-agent systems via a network with random packet dropouts. Based on the dynamic linearization technique, novel model-free adaptive consensus protocols with the data compensation mechanism are designed for both leaderless and leader-following cases. The advantage of this approach is that only neighborhood input and output data of the agents are required in the protocol design.

Lipid droplets (LDs) and lysosomes were dynamic organelles present in most eukaryotic cells that were interconnected and worked closely together to ensure the smooth physiological activities of organisms. The interaction between lipid droplets and lysosomes was thought to play a role in the development of certain diseases. In this paper we designed and synthesised a lipid droplet lysosomal probe.

The subcellular localization of messenger RNA (mRNA) not only helps us to understand the localization regulation of gene expression but also helps to understand the relationship between RNA localization pattern and human disease mechanism, which has profound biological and medical significance. Several predictors have been proposed for predicting the subcellular localization of mRNA. However, there is still considerable room for improvement in their predictive performance, especially regarding multi-label prediction.

Anthocyanins, a group of flavonoids, play diverse roles in plant growth and environmental adaptation. The biosynthesis and accumulation of anthocyanin are regulated by environmental cues, such as high light. However, the precise mechanism underlying anthocyanin biosynthesis under high light conditions remains largely unclear.

Objective: The integration of the health insurance fund pool may threaten the sustainability of the fund by increasing its expenditures through the exacerbation of the moral hazard of participations. The purpose of this paper is to assess and predict the impact of the single pool reform of China's Urban Employee Basic Medical Insurance (UEBMI) on the expenditure and sustainability of the health insurance fund.

Methods: In this paper, we consider the pilot implementation of the single pool reform in some provinces of China as a quasi-natural experiment, and develop a staggered DID model to assess the impact of the single pool reform on medical reimbursement expenditure.

Construction and analysis of protein-protein interaction network for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Comput Biol Med

November 2024

State Key Laboratory of Esophageal Cancer Prevention & Treatment and Henan Key Laboratory for Esophageal Cancer Research of the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou, 450052, China.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is a prevalent malignant tumor of the digestive tract. Clinical findings reveal that the five-year survival rate for mid-to late-stage ESCC patients is merely around 20 %, whereas those diagnosed at an early stage can achieve up to a 95 % survival rate. Consequently, early detection is paramount to improving ESCC patient survival.

College of Cyber Science, Nankai University, Tianjin, 300350, China. Electronic address:

Knowledge graph (KG) noise correction aims to select suitable candidates to correct the noises in KGs. Most of the existing studies have limited performance in repairing the noisy triple that contains more than one incorrect entity or relation, which significantly constrains their implementation in real-world KGs. To overcome this challenge, we propose a novel end-to-end model (BGAT-CCRF) that achieves better noise correction results.

Surface engineering techniques can be used to develop high-performance gas sensing materials and advance the development of sensors. In this study, we improved the gas sensing performance of two-dimensional (2D) WO nanoplates by combining surface Zn modification and the in situ formation of ZnWO/WO heterojunctions. Introducing Zn atoms by surface modification can reconstruct the atomic surface of 2D WO nanoplates, creating additional active sites.

Biomacromolecule hydrogels possess excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility, but their inability to combat bacteria restricts their application in the biomedical field. With the increasing requirements and demands for hydrogel dressings, wound dressings with antibacterial properties of biomacromolecule hydrogels reinforced by adding antibacterial agents have attracted much attention, and related reviews are emerging. In this paper, the advances of biomacromolecule antibacterial hydrogels (including chitosan, sodium alginate, Hyaluronic acid, cellulose and gelatin) were first overviewed, and the antibacterial agents incorporated into hydrogels were classified (including metals and their derivatives, carbon-based materials, and native compounds).

  • Zinc deficiency is a widespread issue impacting both crop yields and human health; modified functional carbon nanodots (MFCNs) were developed to improve zinc migration and tomato production in zinc-deficient soils.
  • Pot culture experiments showed that sulfur-doped MFCNs significantly boosted tomato yields and enhanced fruit quality, while nitrogen-doped variants had little effect on yield but increased zinc content without improving antioxidant properties.
  • MFCNs are capable of regulating plant responses to zinc deficiency by influencing root activity, nutrient balance, and environmental interactions, suggesting their potential use as both growth regulators and soil conditioners in agriculture.

September 2024

Henan Collaborative Innovation Center of Environmental Pollution Control and Ecological Restoration, School of Materials and Chemical Engineering, Zhengzhou University of Light Industry, Zhengzhou, People's Republic of China.

Partial nitrification (PN) is a prerequisite step for the short-cut nitrogen removal process, which is crucial to provide stable nitrite accumulation for subsequent units. The present study innovatively proposed a new strategy for the rapid establishment of PN by adopting short-term anoxic starvation combined with high free ammonia inhibition. The sludge obtained from the secondary sedimentation tank of a municipal wastewater treatment plant was starved for 7 days under anoxic conditions, and then wastewater with high ammonia nitrogen (400 mg L) was introduced.

Epoxy resins, as important thermosetting polymers, exhibit excellent adhesion to various substrates. In view of this, reticulate coating of triglycidyl isocyanate with triethylenetetramine was introduced onto the surface of poly(styrene-divinylbenzene) utilizing amine curing reaction to obtain poly(styrene-divinylbenzene)@triglycidyl isocyanate-triethylenetetramine composite microspheres. The amino groups and epoxy groups of triglycidyl isocyanate-triethylenetetramine endowed poly(styrene-divinylbenzene) with good reactivity, which could be quaternized under mild conditions to obtain an anion exchange chromatographic stationary phase.
