Elevated surface concentrations of ozone and fine particulate matter (PM) can lead to poor air quality and detrimental impacts on human health. These pollutants are also termed Near-Term Climate Forcers (NTCFs) as they can also influence the Earth's radiative balance on timescales shorter than long-lived greenhouse gases. A facile microwave-assisted solvothermal process for the synthesis of narrow-size distributed α-FeO, α-FeO/FeO, and FeO nanostructures was demonstrated using PVP as a surfactant. During the reaction, the influence of the reaction media, such as the mixture of ethylene glycol and water on the formation of α-FeO, α-FeO/FeO, and FeO was systematically studied. Interestingly, pure aqueous medicated solvothermal reaction conferred phase pure rhombohedral FeO (hematite) and linearly upsurging the formation of cubic FeO (magnetite) with the increasing concentration of EG and further, in pure EG, it deliberated cubic FeO.

This study assessed the sensitivity of the West African climate to varying vegetation fractions. The cylindrical pores of track-etched membranes offer excellent environments for studying the effects of confinement on crystallization as the pore diameter is readily varied and the anisotropic morphologies can direct crystal orientation. However, the inability to image individual crystals within the pores in this system has prevented many of the underlying mechanisms from being characterized. Here, we study the crystallization of calcium sulfate within track-etched membranes and reveal that oriented gypsum forms in 200 nm diameter pores, bassanite in 25-100 nm pores and anhydrite in 10 nm pores.

Five consecutive steps were followed: (1) systematic literature review (SLR); (2) discussion of SLR results within the WG and ASAS community; (3) a three-round Delphi survey inviting all ASAS members to select the items that should be considered for the definition; (4) presentation of Delphi results to the WG and ASAS community and (5) ASAS voting and endorsement (2023 annual meeting).

Background: Driven by increased prevalence of type 2 diabetes and ageing populations, wounds affect millions of people each year, but monitoring and treatment remain limited. Glucocorticoid (stress hormones) activation by the enzyme 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11β-HSD1) also impairs healing. We recently reported that 11β-HSD1 inhibition with oral AZD4017 improves acute wound healing by manual 2D optical coherence tomography (OCT), although this method is subjective and labour-intensive.

For a series of phospholipid coated calamitic nematic liquid crystal droplets (5CB, 6CB, 7CB, E7 and MLC7023) of diameter ∼18 μm, the addition of chiral dopant leaves the sign of surface anchoring unchanged. Herein we report that for these chiral nematic droplets an analyte induced transition from a Frank-Pryce structure (with planar anchoring) to a nested-cup structure (with perpendicular anchoring) is accompanied by changes in the intensity of reflected light. We propose this system as both a general scheme for understanding director fields in chiral nematic liquid crystal droplets with perpendicular anchoring and as an ideal candidate to be utilised as the basis for developing cheap, single use LC-based sensor devices.

Though a number of reactions have been developed to target this site, the selectivity, generality, and stability of the conjugates formed has not been studied.
