Development of sustainable synthesis methods of organic electrode materials (OEMs) for sodium (Na)-ion batteries must take hold rapidly in large scale-synthesis if subsequent commercialisation is to occur. We report a facile and rapid gram-scale synthesis method based on microwave irradiation for disodium naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylate (Na-NDC) and mono/disodium benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate (Na-BDC) as model compounds. Phase purity and formation of materials was confirmed by various characterisation techniques.

Identifying people at risk of rheumatoid arthritis in primary care: qualitative study.

Background: Identification of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in primary care is challenging and often delayed. Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) antibody testing of people presenting to primary care with new-onset musculoskeletal symptoms without synovitis could help address this; those testing positive are at increased risk of developing RA.

Aim: To explore how primary care clinicians currently identify and refer patients with suspected RA, and the behaviours required to implement a prediction model for guiding targeted anti-CCP testing for non-specific musculoskeletal symptoms in primary care.

PlutoNet: An efficient polyp segmentation network with modified partial decoder and decoder consistency training.

Deep learning models are used to minimize the number of polyps that goes unnoticed by the experts and to accurately segment the detected polyps during interventions. Although state-of-the-art models are proposed, it remains a challenge to define representations that are able to generalize well and that mediate between capturing low-level features and higher-level semantic details without being redundant. Another challenge with these models is that they are computation and memory intensive, which can pose a problem with real-time applications.

Introduction: Incontinence is commonly experienced by adults who receive care support in a residential facility or in their own home. These individuals are at risk of developing incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD), which is caused by prolonged and repeated exposure of the skin to urine or faeces. Substance addiction can be considered a form of social injustice grounded in interactions between individual, family and community-level risk factors. Although prevention and treatment of substance use disorder is a key target of the United Nations sustainable development goal Good Health and Well-Being, many low-and-middle-income countries lack a culturally validated approach for its management. We contend that a resilience approach may provide a sound basis from which to develop such an approach in non-western, low-resource settings.

The alternative, interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR), provides high spatial resolution but is limited by a low sensitivity to N-S motion. We study the active normal fault network of Western Türkiye, which is undergoing rapid N-S extension, using InSAR.

Indonesia accounts for more than one third of the world's tropical peatlands. Much of the peatland in Indonesia has been deforested and drained, meaning it is more susceptible to fires, especially during drought and El Niño events. Fires are most common in Riau (Sumatra) and Central Kalimantan (Borneo) and lead to poor regional air quality.

Injectable peptide-glycosaminoglycan hydrogels for soft tissue repair: assessment for nucleus augmentation.

We report the development of peptide-glycosaminoglycan hydrogels as injectable biomaterials for load-bearing soft tissue repair. The hydrogels are injectable as a liquid for clinical delivery, rapidly form a gel , and mimic the osmotic swelling behaviour of natural tissue. We used a new model to demonstrate their application as a nucleus augmentation material for the treatment of intervertebral disc degeneration.

To develop a core outcome set for Achilles tendinopathy (COS-AT) for use in clinical trials we performed a five-step process including (1) a systematic review of available outcome measurement instruments, (2) an online survey on truth and feasibility of the available measurement instruments, (3) an assessment of the methodological quality of the selected outcome measurement instruments, (4) an online survey on the outcome measurement instruments as COS and (5) a consensus in-person meeting. Both surveys were completed by healthcare professionals and patients. The Outcome Measures in Rheumatology guidelines with a 70% threshold for consensus were followed.

Here, we probe the enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase 2 from the halophilic archaeon in thirteen different ion combinations for relative activity and analyse the results against molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of the same IL systems.

Humidity modifies species-specific and age-dependent heat stress effects in an insect host-parasitoid interaction.

Climate change is projected to increase the frequency and intensity of extreme heat events, and may increase humidity levels, leading to coupled thermal and hydric stress. However, how humidity modulates the impacts of heat stress on species and their interactions is currently unknown. Using an insect host-parasitoid interaction: the Indian meal moth, , and its endoparasitoid wasp, , we investigated how humidity interacted with heat stress duration, applied at different host developmental stages, to affect life history traits.
