Introduction: The aim of this study was to establish an international consensus statement on the indications for the addition of a patellofemoral joint arthroplasty (PFJA) in patients with a unicondylar knee arthroplasty (UKA) and symptomatic progression of patellofemoral compartment osteoarthritis.

Materials And Methods: A systematic review of the literature was conducted, and the results used to inform the development of a statement by an expert working group. This was then evaluated and modified, using a Delphi process, by members of the European Knee Society (EKS).

Purpose: The first 1000 days of life are critical for long-term health outcomes, and there is increasing concern about the suitability of commercial food products for infants, toddlers, and children. This study evaluates the compliance of UK commercial baby food products with WHO Nutrient and Promotion Profile Model (NPPM) guidelines.

Methods: Between February and April 2023, data on 469 baby food products marketed for infants and children under 36 months were collected from the online platforms of four major UK supermarkets.

Association between clinical and MRI-detected imaging findings for people with midfoot pain, a cross-sectional study.

Background: Midfoot pain is common but poorly understood, with radiographs often indicating no anomalies. This study aimed to describe bone, joint and soft tissue changes and to explore associations between MRI-detected abnormalities and clinical symptoms (pain and disability) in a group of adults with midfoot pain, but who were radiographically negative for osteoarthritis.

Methods: Community-based participants with midfoot pain underwent an MRI scan of one foot and scored semi-quantitatively using the Foot OsteoArthritis MRI Score (FOAMRIS).

The aim of the RESET2 (the REStricted Eating Time in the treatment of type 2 diabetes) trial is to investigate the effects on glycaemic control (HbA) and the feasibility of a 1-year TRE intervention in individuals with overweight/obesity and type 2 diabetes. The aim of the present paper is to describe the protocol for the RESET2 trial.

Acetabular fractures are rare fractures of the pelvis which usually result from trauma. Whilst data are reported on sexual and genitourinary function in those with pelvic fractures, less is known about those with isolated acetabulum fractures. This systematic review aimed to determine, first, the frequency of sexual and genitourinary dysfunction following isolated acetabulum fractures and, second, the nature of these complications.

A Personalised Pacing and Active Rest Rehabilitation Programme for Post-Exertional Symptom Exacerbation and Health Status in Long COVID (PACELOC): A Prospective Cohort Study.

Post-COVID-19 Syndrome or long COVID (LC) is a novel public health crisis and, when persistent (>2 years), is a long-term condition. Post-exertional symptom exacerbation (PESE) is a characteristic symptom of LC and can be improved in a structured pacing rehabilitation programme. To evaluate the effect of an 8-week structured World Health Organisation (WHO) Borg CR-10 pacing protocol on PESE episodes, LC symptoms, and quality of life in a cohort of individuals with long-term LC.

BK Polyomavirus-associated nephropathy - diagnostic and treatment standard.

BK polyomavirus (BKPyV) is recognised as a significant viral complication of kidney transplantation. Prompt immunosuppression reduction reduces early graft failure rates due to BK polyomavirus-associated nephropathy (BKPyVAN), however modulation of immunosuppression can lead to acute rejection. Medium-to-long term graft outcomes are negatively impacted by BKPyVAN, likely due to a combination of virus-induced graft damage and host immune responses against graft alloantigens potentiated by immunosuppression reduction.

An Atomistic Analysis of the Carpet Growth of KCl Across Step Edges on the Ag(111) Surface.

The carpet growth of alkali halide (AH) layers across step edges of substrates enables the growth of seamless and continuous large domains. Yet, information about how the AH layer adapts continuously to the height difference between the terraces on the two sides of a step is only described by continuum models, which do not give details of the ionic displacements. Here, we present a first study of thin epitaxial KCl(100) layers grown on the Ag(111) surface by scanning tunneling microscopy that provides atomistic details for the first time.

Self-Reported Delayed Adverse Events and Flare Following COVID-19 Vaccination Among Patients With Autoimmune Rheumatic Disease (AIRD) in Malaysia: Results From the COVAD-2 Study.

Objectives: To determine the prevalence of self-reported delayed adverse events (DAEs), major AEs, and flares following COVID-19 vaccinations among patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases (AIRDs) in Malaysia.

Methodology: An electronically validated survey from the COVID-19 vaccination in autoimmune diseases (COVAD) study group was distributed in July 2021 to patients with autoimmune diseases and healthy controls (HCs). The survey collected data on DAEs (any AE that persisted or occurred after 7 days of vaccination), any early or delayed major adverse events (MAEs), and flares following COVID-19 vaccination.

Background: The primary endpoint in diabetes-related foot ulcer (DFU) trials is often time to healing, defined as complete re-epithelialisation with absence of drainage, requiring clinical expert assessment as the gold standard. A microfluidic-surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) platform for rapid detection of Escherichia coli in food products is proposed. By implementing a Y-junction serpentine microfluidic channel, we achieved in-situ synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), for enhancing SERS signal intensity. The synthesis of AgNPs was guided by specific aptamers bound to the bacterial cell, which facilitated formation of nanoparticles.

The light-harvesting pigment-protein complex II (LHCII) from plants can be used as a component for biohybrid photovoltaic devices, acting as a photosensitizer to increase the photocurrent generated when devices are illuminated with sunlight. LHCII is effective at photon absorption in the red and blue regions of the visible spectrum, however, it has low absorption in the green region (550-650 nm). Previous studies have shown that synthetic chromophores can be used to fill this spectral gap and transfer additional energy to LHCII, but it was uncertain whether this would translate into an improved performance for photovoltaics.
