The use of two-dimensional (2D) layered materials with a noncentrosymmetric structure dramatically increases the potential of nanoscale electromechanical systems and electronic devices. In this work, liquid-phase exfoliation of bulk bismuth titanate was employed to synthesize atomically thin 2D sheets and fabricate a high-performance piezoelectric energy harvester. The structural and morphological properties of the 2D sheets were analyzed, confirming their phase purity and layer formation.

Supercapacitors are the best energy storage systems due to their high power density, quick charge/discharge rate, and long-term reliability. In this study, β-cyclodextrin-stabilized CuO nanoparticles (CuO@βCD NPs) were synthesized through a simple reduction method and anchored on the surface of MXene nanosheets in three different proportions (1:1, 4:1, and 1:4) to obtain CuO@βCD/MXene nanocomposites through the wet-impregnation method. A theoretical investigation on the cooperativity of a series of binary, ternary, and quaternary complexes interconnected by pnicogen bonds has been conducted using calculations at the M06-2X/aug-cc-pVTZ level of density functional theory. By measuring changes in the molecular electrostatic potential (MESP) at the nucleus of interacting atoms in all of the complexes, it is possible to quantify the substantial reorganization of the electron density triggered by the formation of pnicogen bonds. The positive change in MESP, indicating a loss of electron density from the donor molecule in a dimer, facilitates the acceptance of electron density from a third molecule, resulting in the formation of a ternary complex with a stronger pnicogen bond compared to the one present in the binary complex.

We demonstrate a new strategy of PEGylation over core-shell MOFs of HKUST-1 and Cu-MOF-2 by a solvothermal method. In recent years, the synthesis of metal-organic framework (MOF)─nanocomposites has received wide attention from the scientific fraternity due to the presence of a tunable hierarchical architecture and invasive versatility in applications. The present work focuses on the solvothermal synthesis of a novel hybrid MOF-nanocomposite through the impregnation of Mn-doped ZnO nanoparticles onto the matrix of a pioneer metal-organic framework that is composed of zinc metal connected with terephthalic acid linkers (MOF-5).
