Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Hatay Mustafa Kemal, Hatay 31060, Türkiye.

Article Synopsis
  • Danofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, is effective against bacterial infections in fish, but its pharmacokinetics vary based on fish size, impacting its medicinal effectiveness.!* -
  • A study conducted on rainbow trout demonstrated that larger fish have higher plasma concentrations and overall drug efficacy of danofloxacin compared to smaller fish, with measurements taken after oral administration.!* -
  • While larger fish show increased therapeutic efficacy, their higher drug concentrations in tissues raise concerns about potential residue and withdrawal time for safe consumption.!*

Colon Cancer Disease Diagnosis Based on Convolutional Neural Network and Fishier Mantis Optimizer.

Diagnostics (Basel)

July 2024

Department of Systems and Automatic Control, Faculty of Engineering of Vitoria-Gasteiz, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), C/Nieves Cano 12, 01006 Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.

Colon cancer is a prevalent and potentially fatal disease that demands early and accurate diagnosis for effective treatment. Traditional diagnostic approaches for colon cancer often face limitations in accuracy and efficiency, leading to challenges in early detection and treatment. In response to these challenges, this paper introduces an innovative method that leverages artificial intelligence, specifically convolutional neural network (CNN) and Fishier Mantis Optimizer, for the automated detection of colon cancer.

Background: Although research on the mechanism and control of pain and inflammation in fish has increased in recent years, the use of analgesic drugs is limited due to the lack of pharmacological information about analgesic drugs. Tolfenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and can be used in fish due to its low side effect profile and superior pharmacokinetic properties.

Objectives: The pharmacokinetics, bioavailability and plasma protein binding of tolfenamic acid were investigated following single intravascular (IV), intramuscular (IM) and oral administration of 2 mg/kg in rainbow trout at 13 ± 0.

Pandemics, Income Inequality, and Refugees: The Case of COVID-19.

Soc Work Public Health

January 2024

Department of Economics, Halıc Unıversıty, Istanbul, Turkey.

Refugees are more vulnerable to COVID-19 due to factors such as low standard of living, accommodation in crowded households, difficulty in receiving health care due to high treatment costs in some countries, and inability to access public health and social services. The increasing income inequalities, anxiety about providing minimum living conditions, and fear of being unemployed compel refugees to continue their jobs, and this affects the number of cases and case-related deaths. The aim of the study is to analyze the impact of refugees and income inequality on COVID-19 cases and deaths in 95 countries for the year 2021 using Poisson regression, Negative Binomial Regression, and Machine Learning methods.

Aims: Ovarian ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is a phenomenon that necessitates urgent intervention, which occurs as a result of ovarian torsion, and it is frequently seen in young women. A large amount of free radical and oxidative damage as a result of I/R plays a role in the cause of the incident. Antioxidant agents are thought to be beneficial in preventing this damage, and the potential protective effects of esculetin, which had not been tested previously, were investigated in this study.
