The second most prevalent cause of mortality among women is breast cancer, and paclitaxel (PTX) is an effective drug for its treatment. The present work aims to develop patch-based poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) nanofibers incorporating PTX as a localized and sustained drug delivery system. The co-deposition of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) fibers during electrospinning was allowed to improve water absorption by the scaffold, which in turn facilitated the release of drug molecules.

Dopant engineering can be a very selective approach in designing hybrid materials. Incorporating the required functionality in a dopant effectively modulates its properties towards aimed applications. Consequently, this work through a comparative study envisaged the incorporation of chalcogenides (S, Se, and Te) in a biphenyl motif based on the analysis of major photocatalytic descriptors.

The main objective of this work was to investigate the impact of ultrasonication assisted enzymatic treatment on the physicochemical and bioactive properties of broad bean (BBP), lentil bean (LBP), and mung bean (MBP) protein isolates. The protein was extracted using alkaline acid precipitation method, ultrasonicated at a frequency of 20 kHz, temperature 20-30 °C and then hydrolysed using alcalase enzyme (1 % w/w, pH 8.5, 30 min, 55 C).

Despite being an approved antiemetic for more than five decades, the clinical usefulness of prochlorperazine is limited by its low solubility and inconsistent absorption in the gastrointestinal tract, which presents challenges for nanotherapeutic interventions. Here, we report the preparation of a highly soluble and permeable nanofiber formulation of prochlorperazine using the Quality-by-Design approach. The final nanofiber formulation with drug entrapment of 88.

Nanozymes, a new class of nanomaterials-based artificial enzymes, have gained huge attraction due to their high operational stability, working efficiency in extreme conditions, and resistance towards protease digestion. Nowadays, they are effectively substituted for natural enzymes for catalysis by closely resembling the active sites found in natural enzymes. Nanozymes can compensate for natural enzymes' drawbacks, such as high cost, poor stability, low yield, and storage challenges.

Glyphosate [-(phosphonomethyl)glycine] is a widely used phosphonate herbicide for different agricultural purposes. Due to its widespread use, suspected toxicity, and ubiquitous bioaccumulation, it is one of the most harmful contaminants found in drinking water. This demands efficient sensing and removal of glyphosate from contaminated water.

In this study, polyurethane (PU) and cellulose acetate (CA) electrospun fibers encapsulating rosemary essential oil (REO) and adsorbed silver (Ag) nanoparticles (NPs) were fabricated. The biologically inspired materials were analyzed for physicochemical characteristics using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometer, Fourier transform infrared, thermal gravimetric analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, water contact angle, and water uptake studies. Results confirmed the presence of CA and Ag NPs on the PU micro-nanofibers increased the hydrophilicity from 107.

Heterocyclic compounds are that type of substances that are deeply intertwined with biological processes. Heterocycles are found in about 90% of commercially available medicines. In medicinal chemistry, finding new synthetic molecules with drug-like characteristics is a regular problem, which triggered the development of pharmacological molecules, the majority of which are based on N-heterocyclic motifs.

Herein, we report the electrochemical detection of heavy metal ions such as Pb(ii), Cd(ii) and Hg(ii) ions while using glutathione coated hollow ZnO modified glassy carbon electrode (Glu-h-ZnO/GCE). An excellent voltammetric response of the modified electrode towards these metal ions was observed by different voltammetric techniques. Among the different target metal ions, a selective electrochemical response (sensitivity = 4.

Background: Prunella vulgaris, commonly known as self-heal, has been extensively used in the traditional system of medicines. The plant has been found to contain a number of bioactive molecules including those having radical scavenging property which indicates its potential for the treatment of those diseases which are induced by free radical damage like drug-induced hepatotoxicity.
Objective: The current study was undertaken to investigate the flavonoid and total phenolic content and evaluate the hepatoprotective potential of various extracts obtained from floral spikes of P.
Glutathione has tremendous binding potential with metal ions present in water. However, the solubility of glutathione in water limits its productivity in the removal of these toxic ions from aqueous systems. The removability of heavy ions with glutathione and the associated adsorption capability are enhanced; for this purpose, glutathione is coated over hollow zinc oxide particles.

Starch extracted from Indian Horse Chestnut (IHCN) was subjected to infrared and microwave radiations for different time intervals (15 s, 30 s, & 45 s) at constant dose. The structural change of MW and IR radiated IHCN starches were determined by Fourier transform-infra red spectroscopy. The increased peak intensity at 3240 cm(-1) of treated starch represents more exposure of hydroxyl groups due to radiation.
