Nationwide challenges with the lack of access to mental health care for youth have prompted efforts to integrate mental health into pediatric primary care. Kansas Kids Mental Health Access Program (KSKidsMAP) was developed to promote mental health workforce development through primary-care practitioners (PCPs) by offering free access to consultations, training, and care coordination. Kansas Kids Mental Health Access Program, a federally funded pediatric mental health care access program (PMHCA), is highly interprofessional in nature, and recommendations reflect the team composition and collaboration efforts.

Purpose: Non-operative management of patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) is emerging as a popular approach for patients that have no evidence of disease following neoadjuvant therapy. However, high rates of local recurrence or distant metastases have highlighted the urgent need for robust biomarker strategies to aid clinical management of these patients.

Methods: This review summarizes recent advances in the utility of cell-free (cf) and circulating tumor (ct) DNA as potential biomarkers to help guide individualized non-operative management strategies for LARC patients receiving neoadjuvant therapy.

Post-Ischemic Reorganization of Sensory Responses in Cerebral Cortex.

bioRxiv

January 2023

Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Landon Center on Aging, University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.

Sensorimotor integration is critical for generating skilled, volitional movements. While stroke tends to impact motor function, there are also often associated sensory deficits that contribute to overall behavioral deficits. Because many of the cortico-cortical projections participating in the generation of volitional movement either target or pass-through primary motor cortex (in rats, caudal forelimb area; CFA), any damage to CFA can lead to a subsequent disruption in information flow.
