In this survey study of institutions across the US, marked variability in evaluation, treatment, and follow-up of adolescents 12 through 18 years of age with mRNA coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine-associated myopericarditis was noted. Only one adolescent with life-threatening complications was reported, with no deaths at any of the participating institutions.

Context: Patients with aggrecan (ACAN) deficiency present with dominantly inherited short stature, often with advanced skeletal maturation and premature growth cessation. There is a paucity of information on the effects of growth-promoting interventions.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) therapy on linear growth in children with ACAN deficiency.

The development and introduction of modulator therapies have completely shifted the paradigm for the treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF). Highly effective modulator therapies have driven marked improvements in lung function, exacerbation rate, weight and quality of life in CF patients. However, their effect on CF related diabetes (CFRD) is not well delineated.

Paraneoplastic syndromes are rare conditions associated with characteristic autoantibodies produced by malignancy, although similar autoantibodies and clinical presentations may occur in the absence of any neoplasm. Testing for paraneoplastic syndromes often involves panels of autoantibody assays. While autoantibody testing may reveal or confirm actionable clinical diagnoses, inappropriate utilization of testing may be low yield and further lead to false positives that may confuse the clinical picture.

There is a strong association between self-reported child abuse and subsequent psychosis in retrospective data. Prospective studies of reports to statutory agencies are less common with limited information on people in their 30s. There have also been no comparisons of the influence of self- and agency-reported abuse on psychosis in adulthood.

Lamotrigine and levetiracetam are second-generation anti-epileptic drugs used for the management of seizure disorders and some other medical conditions. In the related research article using retrospective data from an academic medical center, we analyzed 5046 samples originating from 1930 unique patients that had lamotrigine drug levels performed on serum/plasma and 4359 samples from 2451 patients that had levetiracetam drug levels performed. The data in this article provides the patient demographic, clinical location at time of drug level, and specific lamotrigine or levetiracetam serum/plasma drug level for all patients.

Oxygenator thrombosis during extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), is a complication that necessitates component replacement. ECMO centers monitor clot burden by intermittent measurement of pressure drop across the oxygenator. An increase in pressure drop at a preset flow rate suggests an increase in resistance/clot formation within the oxygenator.

Background: Chiari Malformation Type I (CM-I) is defined as cerebellar tonsil displacement more than 5 mm below the foramen magnum. This displacement can alter cerebrospinal fluid flow at the cervicomedullary junction resulting in Valsalva-induced headaches and syringomyelia and compress the brainstem resulting in bulbar symptoms. However, little is known about cognitive and psychological changes in CM-I.

Objective: Information on the oral health outcomes of childhood maltreatment in adulthood is limited and reliant on retrospective questionnaires that are subject to recall bias. There are no data from prospective studies using maltreatment reports to statutory agencies. We therefore assessed the effect on dental outcomes and oral health care at 30-year follow-up using both prospective agency notifications and retrospective self-reports of child maltreatment in the same birth cohort.

Purpose: Synovial sarcoma (SS) is the second most common malignant soft tissue tumor in children. ARST0332 evaluated a risk-based treatment strategy for young patients with soft tissue sarcoma designed to limit therapy for low-risk (LR) disease and to test neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for unresected higher-risk disease.
Methods: Newly diagnosed patients with SS age < 30 years were assigned to four treatment arms based on disease features: A (surgery only), B (55.

Objectives: This study sought to describe the electrophysiologic properties and catheter ablation outcomes for atrioventricular reciprocating tacchycardia via twin atrioventricular nodes (T-AVRT).
Background: Although catheter ablation for T-AVRT is an established entity, there are few data on the electrophysiological properties and outcomes of this procedure.
Methods: An international, multicenter study was conducted to collect retrospective procedural and outcomes data for catheter ablation of T-AVRT.

In this state-of-the-art review, we highlight the major advances over the last 5 years in neonatal acute kidney injury (AKI). Large multicenter studies reveal that neonatal AKI is common and independently associated with increased morbidity and mortality. The natural course of neonatal AKI, along with the risk factors, mitigation strategies, and the role of AKI on short- and long-term outcomes, is becoming clearer.

Objective: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can have a significant but variable effect on childhood neurodevelopment. The purpose of this study was to quantify and compare the associations between "household challenge" ACEs and common childhood neurodevelopmental and behavioral health conditions, using nationally representative U.S.

The LT is often excised in the process of performing a medial open reduction (MOR) of the hip. We sought to conduct a retrospective review of hips undergoing a MOR for dislocated infantile developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) to compare clinical and radiographic outcomes for patients with and without LT reconstruction.

We present a three-month-old infant with scimitar syndrome, who eventually developed refractory pulmonary hypertension, posing a significant management challenge. Further workup demonstrated contralateral pulmonary vein stenosis, which is rarely described in scimitar syndrome.

Lamotrigine and levetiracetam are widely used second-generation anti-epileptic drugs. Existing literature indicates that overdose of either drug is typically benign, but neurologic and cardiac toxicity can occur in some cases. In this retrospective study, we analyzed a large dataset of serum/plasma drug levels for lamotrigine and levetiracetam.

Background: In the wake of an epidemic in firearm-related deaths and injuries, youth have become leading voices of concern. This study's objective was to investigate rural youth's personal experiences with firearm-related violence, and their attitudes towards firearms and gun violence prevention strategies.
Methods: Attendees of the 2019 Iowa FFA Leadership Conference were surveyed about personal experiences with firearm-associated deaths and injuries, and their attitudes regarding firearm-related issues.
Onco-nephrology is a recent and evolving medical subspecialty devoted to the care of patients with kidney disease and unique kidney-related complications in the context of cancer and its treatments, recognizing that management of kidney disease as well as the cancer itself will improve survival and quality of life. While this area has received much attention in the adult medicine sphere, similar emphasis in the pediatric realm has not yet been realized. As in adults, kidney involvement in children with cancer extends beyond the time of initial diagnosis and treatment.
