Data on outcomes of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) are limited in patients with pulmonary atresia intact ventricular septum (PAIVS). The objective of this study was to describe the use of ECMO and the associated outcomes in patients with PAIVS. We retrospectively reviewed neonates with PAIVS who received ECMO between 2009 and 2019 in 19 US hospitals affiliated with the Collaborative Research for the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society (CoRe-PCICS).

Background: Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support Guidelines recommend maintaining blood pressure (BP) above the 5th percentile for age following return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) after cardiac arrest (CA). Emerging evidence suggests that targeting higher thresholds, such as the 10th or 25th percentiles, may improve neurologic outcomes. We aimed to evaluate the association between post-ROSC BP thresholds and neurologic outcome, hypothesizing that maintaining mean arterial pressure (MAP) and systolic blood pressure (SBP) above these thresholds would be associated with improved outcomes at hospital discharge.

Background: Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is the favored renal replacement therapy in critically ill patients. Predicting clinical outcomes for CRRT patients is difficult due to population heterogeneity, varying clinical practices, and limited sample sizes.
Objective: We aimed to predict survival to ICUs and hospital discharge in children and young adults receiving CRRT using machine learning (ML) techniques.

Background: Radiation exposure and the effect of anti-scatter grids are not well studied in premature infants during transcatheter patent ductus arteriosus closure. This study aimed to investigate whether the use of anti-scatter grids altered the level of radiation exposure to premature infants undergoing transcatheter patent ductus arteriosus closure.
Methods And Results: Demographic and radiation exposure data for premature infants who underwent transcatheter patent ductus arteriosus closure at the Stead Family Children's Hospital from 10/2019 to 10/2021 were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed.

Rationale And Objective: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication among hospitalized adults, but AKI prediction and prevention among adults has proved challenging. We used machine learning to update the nephrotoxic injury negated by just-in time action (NINJA), a pediatric program that predicts nephrotoxic AKI, to improve accuracy among adults.
Study Design: A retrospective cohort study.

Importance: Pediatric patients with cancer commonly experience severely bothersome symptoms. The effectiveness of routine symptom screening with symptom feedback and symptom management care pathways is unknown.
Objective: To determine whether thrice-weekly symptom screening with symptom feedback and management care pathways, compared with usual care, improves overall self-reported symptom scores measured by the Symptom Screening in Pediatrics Tool (SSPedi) in pediatric patients with cancer.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of recombinant human GH (rhGH) on linear growth in ACAN-deficient children.
Methods: Open-label, single-arm, prospective study over 3 years recruiting 10 treatment-naïve patients with heterozygous mutations in , age ≥2 years, prepubertal, and normal IGF-I concentration.

It is not uncommon for a patient to experience hemodynamic instability following birth. This is due to the fact that the transitional period requires dramatic cardiorespiratory changes. When it goes well, improved lung compliance and successful transition to the postnatal circulation is seen.

There are limited objective studies regarding the effectiveness of strategies to alleviate the documentation burden on resident physicians. To develop and implement diagnosis-specific templates for the plan of care section of inpatient admission notes, aiming to reduce documentation time. Twelve templates for the plan of care section of admission notes were written by the study authors, reviewed by attending physicians, and shared with the residents through the electronic health record (EHR) on September 23, 2022.

Transcatheter patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) closure (TCPC) utilizing transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE) as the sole imaging guide could simplify care. This single-center study compares PDA dimensions obtained from the TTE and angiogram images of patients who underwent attempted TCPC at Stead Family Children's Hospital from 10/01/2019 to 10/31/2020. Blinded investigators measured these dimensions solely for this study and had no impact on clinical care.

Purpose: Revumenib, an oral, small molecule inhibitor of the menin-lysine methyltransferase 2A (KMT2A) interaction, showed promising efficacy and safety in a phase I study of heavily pretreated patients with -rearranged () acute leukemia. Here, we evaluated the activity of revumenib in individuals with relapsed/refractory (R/R) acute leukemia.
Methods: AUGMENT-101 is a phase I/II, open-label, dose-escalation and expansion study of revumenib conducted across 22 clinical sites in five countries (ClinicalTrials.

Introduction: Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is the most common cardiovascular problem that develops in extremely preterm infants and is associated with poor clinical outcomes. Uncertainty exists on whether early pharmacotherapeutic treatment of a clinically symptomatic and echocardiography-confirmed haemodynamically significant PDA in extremely preterm infants improves outcomes. Given the wide variation in the approach to PDA treatment in this gestational age (GA) group, a randomised trial design is essential to address the question.

Purpose: Left atrium to aortic root ratio (LA/Ao) is an echocardiographic marker of hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). Since 2-dimensional measurement of the ratio is geometrically limited, left atrial volume (LAV) which has 3-dimensional characteristics was investigated. The aim of this study was to determine a correlation between LA/Ao ratio and LAV as well as holodiastolic flow reversal in preterm neonates with and without a PDA.

Background: Pediatric heart failure is associated with high mortality rates and is a current clinical burden. There is only one FDA approved pediatric VAD, Berlin Heart EXCOR, for treatment. Thrombo-embolic complications are a significant clinical challenge, which can lead to devastating complications such as stroke and impair efficient EXCOR function.

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is characterized by a developmental insult which compromises cardiopulmonary embryology and results in a diaphragmatic defect, allowing abdominal organs to herniate into the hemithorax. Among the significant pathophysiologic components of this condition is pulmonary hypertension (PH), alongside pulmonary hypoplasia and cardiac dysfunction. Fetal pulmonary vascular development coincides with lung development, with the pulmonary vasculature evolving alongside lung maturation.
