Attention U-net for automated pulmonary fissure integrity analysis in lung computed tomography images.

Computed Tomography (CT) imaging is routinely used for imaging of the lungs. Deep learning can effectively automate complex and laborious tasks in medical imaging. In this work, a deep learning technique is utilized to assess lobar fissure completeness (also known as fissure integrity) from pulmonary CT images.

Implementing smoking cessation guidelines for hospitalized Veterans: Cessation results from the VA-BEST trial.

Purpose: To examine the impact of a nurse-initiated tobacco cessation intervention focused on providing guideline-recommended care to hospitalized smokers.

Design: Pre-post quasi-experimental trial.

Setting: General medical units of four US Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals.

Background: Absence of the long head of the biceps brachii (LHB) tendon is rare with an unknown incidence. It can occur bilaterally in patients with or without associated congenital anomalies. Diagnostic difficulty exists with both magnetic resonance imaging and physical examination.
