Introduction: The human-derived amnion-chorion membrane (ACM) has endogenous antimicrobial properties, which are important for preventing the colonization and survival of oral bacteria on exposed membranes. This project aimed to decipher the underlying mechanism by identifying the components of ACM that confer antibacterial properties. In addition, the antimicrobial efficacy of these identified components on oral bacteria was assessed.

Objective: This case report presents a novel technique for bridge restoration using polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) tape and split dam isolation in situations where achieving complete dental dam isolation is challenging.
Clinical Considerations: Achieving high-quality isolation by controlling gingival crevicular fluid and intraoral relative humidity is important during cementation. However, an improved technique during bridge restoration is needed due to the difficulties faced with dental dam isolation.

Introduction: Older adults living in long-term care facilities (LTCFs) often have poor oral health and difficulty accessing dental services. The aim was to implement a virtual dental home (VDH) program for residents in two LTCFs utilizing asynchronous teledentistry techniques and mobile dental equipment.
Methods: This pilot project was a 6-month longitudinal cohort study in two LTCFs.

Alpha-ketoglutarate (AKG), a key component of the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, has attracted attention for its anti-aging properties. Our recent study indicates that locally delivered cell-permeable AKG significantly promotes osteogenic differentiation and mouse bone regeneration. However, the cytotoxicity and rapid hydrolysis of the metabolite limit its application.

This study gives an insight into certain systemic conditions and factors such as nutrition, age, hematological disorders, hypertension, smoking, obesity, and metabolic syndrome that have a notable effect on the periodontium. The review highlights the importance of taking these factors into consideration in periodontal therapy and their impact on the prognosis of periodontal therapies. The other systemic factors are discussed in detail elsewhere in the special issue.

Clinicians who place and restore implants are always concerned about the success and longevity of the same. There are several local and systemic factors that affect osseointegration and the health of the peri-implant tissues. In this study, we review the systemic factors that can affect implant survival, osseointegration, and long-term success.

Our laboratory recently developed a new class of high surface area, honeycomb Nanoclay Microsphere Framework absorbents (NMFs) that prompt rapid hemostasis. In the present work, we propose a novel approach to develop antibacterial Topical Hemostatic Agents (THAs) by anchoring silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) onto NMFs. This combination was obtained by a chemical co-reduction approach, followed by freeze-processing, and was shown to ensure stability and on-site delivery of AgNPs, without altering the hemostatic properties of NMFs.

Objective: Rete pegs are projections of the oral epithelium into connective tissue. Their dimensions change during pathological conditions and may correlate with wound-healing status. Non-invasive, high-frequency ultrasound (US) may be able to capture these changes and aid in early detection of histopathological changes.

Objectives: Gerontological education and intergenerational contact are proven strategies for effectively combating ageism. In this context, this study investigates the association between gerontological education, intergenerational contact, and ageism among dental students.
Methods: Gerontological education from students' perspective, intergenerational contact, and ageism were assessed using a questionnaire containing sociodemographical aspects and an ageism scale (ASDS-Braz).

This report describes multidisciplinary care combining orthodontics and restorative dentistry for a patient with Class II occlusion and stained mandibular and maxillary resin composite veneers. The orthodontic treatment improved severe overjet and malocclusion prior to restorative care. Occlusal assessment was provided with a novel digital device (PlaneSystem, Zirkonzahn) that is integrated with digital workflows for the evaluation of the occlusal plane and condylar path inclination.

How the dorsal-ventral axis of the vertebrate jaw, particularly the position of tooth initiation site, is established remains a critical and unresolved question. Tooth development starts with the formation of the dental lamina, a localized thickened strip within the maxillary and mandibular epithelium. To identify transcriptional regulatory networks (TRN) controlling the specification of dental lamina from the naïve mandibular epithelium, we utilized Laser Microdissection coupled low-input RNA-seq (LMD-RNA-seq) to profile gene expression of different domains of the mandibular epithelium along the dorsal-ventral axis.

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the satisfaction of dental professionals, including dental students, dentists, and dental technicians, with computer-aided design (CAD) software performance using deep learning (DL) and explainable artificial intelligence (XAI)-based behavioral analysis concepts.
Materials And Methods: This study involved 436 dental professionals with diverse CAD experiences to assess their satisfaction with various dental CAD software programs. Through exploratory factor analysis, latent factors affecting user satisfaction were extracted from the observed variables.

Purpose: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the depth distortion and angular deviation of fully-guided tooth-supported static surgical guides (FTSG) in partially edentulous arches compared to partially guided surgical guides or freehand.
Material And Methods: This study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines and was registered in the Open Science Framework (OSF). The formulated population, intervention, comparison, and outcome (PICO) question was: "In partially edentulous arches, what are the depth distortion and angular deviation of FTSG compared to partially guided surgical guides or freehand?" The search strategy involved four main electronic databases, and an additional manual search was completed in November 2023 by following an established search strategy.

Background: To evaluate the effectiveness of three minimally invasive techniques for managing patients with myofascial pain dysfunction, determine their association with sociodemographic factors, habits, medication usage, comorbidities, treatment history, pain duration, complaint intensity, and diagnosis limitations.
Material And Methods: This five-year observational study scrutinized 1,000 medical records from individuals treated at the TMD Orofacial Dental Research Center. TMD treatments were organized into Group 1 (thermotherapy, exercises, and CBT), Group 2 (Group 1 plus intramuscular manual therapy), and Group 3 (Group 1 and Group 2 plus occlusal appliances) and correlated with sociodemographic factors, habits, prior medication usage, comorbidities, history of prior treatments, duration of pain, intensity of complaint, and diagnosis limitations or without limitations regarding the symptoms of muscular temporomandibular disorders (TMD).

To evaluate the effect of adhesive coats application on the enamel microtensile bond strength (µTBS) of universal adhesives, morphological etching pattern and their chemical interaction with hydroxyapatite (HA). Two universal adhesives were investigated: Scotchbond Universal (SBU, 3 M) and Prime&Bond Universal (PBU, Dentsply). The adhesives were applied in self-etching mode on bovine enamel (n = 8) in one (1L), two (2L) or three coats (3L) and light-cured as per manufacturers' instructions.

Purpose: To describe the development and integration of an electronic health record-driven, student dashboard that displays real-time data relative to the students' patient management and clinic experiences at the University of Illinois Chicago, College of Dentistry.
Materials And Methods: Following development and implementation of the student dashboard, various objective metrics were evaluated to identify any improvements in the clinical patient management. A cross-sectional retrospective chart review was completed of the electronic health record (axiUm, Exan, Coquitlam, BC, Canada) from January 2019 to April 2022 evaluating four performance metrics: student lockouts, note/code violations, overdue active patients, and overdue recall patients.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the association between Medicaid dental benefits for pregnant people and dental care use among very young children in Medicaid. We hypothesized that children living in states with more generous dental benefits for Medicaid-enrolled pregnant people would be more likely to have a recent dental visit.
Methods: This national cross-sectional study used pooled 2017-2019 data from the National Survey of Children's Health, as well as state Medicaid policy data.
