Background: Emergency physicians commonly perform ultrasound-assisted abdominal paracentesis, using point of care ultrasound (POCUS) to identify ascites and select a site for needle insertion. However, ultrasound-guided paracentesis has the benefit of real-time needle visualization during the entire procedure. This study aimed to characterize the clinical features, developmental milestones, and the natural history of Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease (PMD) associated with gene duplications. The study examined 16 PMD Patients ranging in age from 7 to 48 years, who had a documented gene duplication. Background Cardiac complications related to COVID-19 in children and adolescents include ventricular dysfunction, myocarditis, coronary artery aneurysm, and bradyarrhythmias, but tachyarrhythmias are less understood. The goal of this study was to evaluate the frequency, characteristics, and outcomes of children and adolescents experiencing tachyarrhythmias while hospitalized for acute severe COVID-19 or multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children. Background Sorbin and SH3 domain containing 2 (Sorbs2) protein is a cytoskeletal adaptor with an emerging role in cardiac biology and disease; yet, its potential relevance to adult-onset cardiomyopathies remains underexplored. Sorbs2 global knockout mice display lethal arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy; however, the causative mechanisms remain unclear. Objectives: In a prospective, comparative effectiveness study, we assessed clinical and psychological factors associated with switching from active surveillance (AS) to active treatment (AT) among low-risk prostate cancer (PCa) patients.

Methods: Using ultra-rapid case identification, we conducted pretreatment telephone interviews ( = 1139) with low-risk patients (PSA ≤ 10, Gleason≤6) and follow-up interviews 6-10 months post-diagnosis ( = 1057). Among men remaining on AS for at least 12 months ( = 601), we compared those who continued on AS ( = 515) versus men who underwent delayed AT ( = 86) between 13 and 24 months, using Cox proportional hazards models.
