Utilizing the online monitoring data of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and ozone (O) in the Shijiazhuang high-tech industrial development zone during October 2020, the pollution characteristics of VOCs were analyzed. Subsequently, ·OH estimation, secondary organic aerosol formation potential (SOAP), and ozone formation potential (OFP) were applied to assess the chemical reactivity of VOCs. Additionally, the source apportionment was identified using the positive matrix factorization (PMF) model.

To enhance meteorological detection methods, an atmospheric boundary layer detection system based on a rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was proposed. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was employed to model the surrounding airflow distribution during UAV hovering, thereby determining the optimal positions for sensor installation. A novel radiation shield was designed for the temperature sensor, offering both excellent radiation shielding and superior ventilation.

Reducing water input and promoting water productivity in rice field under alternate wetting and drying irrigation (AWD), instead of continuous flooding (CF), are vital due to increasing irrigation water scarcity. However, it is also important to understand how methane (CH) and nitrous oxide (NO) emissions and global warming potential ( of CH and NO) respond to AWD under the influence of various factors. Here, we conducted a meta-analysis to investigate the impact of AWD on CH and NO emissions and , and its modification by climate conditions, soil properties, and management practices.

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and their alternative halogenated flame retardants (AHFRs) have gained global attention due to their ubiquitous occurrence, bioaccumulation, and toxic properties. However, the biomagnification of halogenated flame retardants (HFRs), particularly AHFRs, in various food chains is not yet well understood. In this study, yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares), along with its prey, flying squid (Sthenoteuthis oualaniensis) and round scad (Decapterus maruadsi), were sampled from the South China Sea (SCS) to investigate the biomagnification potential of PBDEs and AHFRs, including dechlorane plus (DP) and decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE).

Multi-level thresholding for image segmentation is one of the key techniques in image processing. Although numerous methods have been introduced, it remains challenging to achieve stable and satisfactory thresholds when segmenting images with various unknown properties. This paper proposes an equilibrium optimizer algorithm to find the optimal multi-level thresholds for grayscale images.

Nitrogen oxides (NO), comprised of nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO), play a crucial role in the global nitrogen cycle, but the oceanic occurrence remained unclear. Here, we show an integrated underway observation of oceanic and atmospheric NO and NO from the coastal seas to the open ocean in the northwestern Pacific Ocean (NWPO). The concentrations of NO and NO showed similar distribution patterns that the coastal seas with rich nitrogen nutrients showed higher levels, like the Yellow Sea (7.

Asa result of the time lag in transmission, the data obtained by the sensor is delayed and does not reflect the state at the current moment. The effects of input delay are often overlooked in active inference (AIF), which may lead to significant deviations in state estimation and increased prediction errors, particularly when the system is subjected to a sudden external stimulus. In this paper, a theoretical framework of delayed feedback active inference (DAIF) is proposed to enhance the applicability of AIF to real systems.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most prevalent chronic joint disorder and is a major cause of disability among the elderly population. The degeneration and damage of articular cartilage associated with OA can result in a diminished range of motion in joints, subsequently impacting fundamental activities such as ambulation, standing, and grasping objects. In severe cases, it may culminate in disability.

Urban areas are the largest contributors to global fossil fuel carbon emissions, and controlling urban carbon emissions is critical to addressing climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. However, estimates of urban emissions remain large uncertainties, making it difficult to accurately understand changes in urban carbon emissions and to assess the effectiveness of emission controls. Atmospheric CO observations, through data assimilation, can objectively invert changes in urban carbon emissions.

Open-Set Domain Adaptation (OSDA) is designed to facilitate the transfer of knowledge from a source domain to a target domain, where the class space of the source is a subset of the target. The primary challenge in OSDA is the identification of shared samples in the target domain to achieve domain alignment while effectively segregating private samples in the target domain. In attempts to address this challenge, numerous existing methods leverage weighted classifiers to mitigate the negative transfer issue induced by private classes in the target domain and recognize all these samples as a whole unknown class.

The increasing incidence of cancer underscore the necessity of investigating contributors such as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), including bisphenol A (BPA). Although BPA's risks are well-documented, comprehensive studies on its substitutes, such as bisphenol B (BPB), are limited. Dysregulated lipid metabolism is a hallmark of cancer progression.

The pronounced topographical differences, giving rise to numerous water bodies, also endow these formations with substantial hydraulic gradients, leading to pronounced groundwater discharge within their low-lying, natural reservoir settings. However, the dynamics of groundwater discharge in reservoirs and their impact on greenhouse gas (GHG) production and emission under different conditions remain unclear. This study focuses on a reservoir in southeastern China, where we conducted seasonal field observations alongside microcosm incubation experiments to elucidate the relationship between greenhouse gas emissions and groundwater discharge.

Globally, land use change has consistently resulted in greater losses than gains in aboveground biomass (AGB). Forest fragmentation is a primary driver of biodiversity loss and the depletion of natural capital. Measuring landscape characteristics and analyzing changes in forest landscape patterns are essential for accounting for the contributions of forest ecosystems to the economy and human well-being.
