Mobile gaming poses significant health risks, such as musculoskeletal (MSK) and eye problems, as players maintain the same posture for long periods. The objective of the current study is to describe the prevalence and assess the association of musculoskeletal and eye problems among professional gamers (PG) and casual gamers (CG) with their physical activity level and physical fitness. A total of 94 mobile-gaming athletes (43 PG, 51 CG) were prospectively recruited in this study.

Hookworm infection remains a significant public health concern, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, where mass drug administration has not stopped reinfection. Developing a vaccine is crucial to complement current control measures, which necessitates a thorough understanding of host immune responses. By leveraging controlled human infection models and high-dimensional immunophenotyping, here we investigated the immune remodeling following infection with 50 Necator americanus L3 hookworm larvae in four naïve volunteers over two years of follow-up and compared the profiles with naturally infected populations in endemic areas.

Malaria in eastern Indonesia remains high despite significant reduction and elimination in other parts of the country. A rapid entomological assessment was conducted in eight high malaria endemic regencies of Papua Province, Indonesia, to expedite malaria elimination efforts in this region. This study aims to characterize specific, actionable endpoints toward understanding where and when malaria transmission is happening, where interventions may function best, and identify gaps in protection that result in continued transmission.

Conventional cancer therapies can have significant adverse effects as they are not targeted to cancer cells and may damage healthy cells. Single-stranded oligonucleotides assembled in a particular architecture, known as aptamers, enable them to attach selectively to target areas. Usually, they are created by Systematic Evolution of Ligand by Exponential enrichment (SELEX), and they go through a rigorous pharmacological revision process to change their therapeutic half-life, affinity, and specificity.

Objective: Recent spoligotyping results in the island nation of Indonesia had revealed the existence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex lineage 3 (MTBC L3) or Central Asian (CAS) strains. In this work, whole-genome sequencing (WGS) - based methods were used to search for the presence of MTBC L3.
Results: Two unrelated Indonesian L3 strains discovered by WGS-based SNP phylogenomics are presented here for the first time.
