Background: Standardized letters of evaluation (SLOEs) are an important part of residency recruitment, particularly given the limited availability of other discerning factors in residency applications. While consensus regarding SLOE competitiveness has been studied within a small group of academic faculty, it remains unexplored how a more diverse group of letter readers interpret SLOEs in terms of competitiveness.
Methods: A sample of 50 real SLOEs in the new SLOE format (2022 eSLOE 2.
Background: While faculty have previously been shown to have high levels of agreement about the competitiveness of emergency medicine (EM) standardized letters of evaluation (SLOEs), reviewing SLOEs remains a highly time-intensive process for faculty. Artificial intelligence large language models (LLMs) have shown promise for effectively analyzing large volumes of data across a variety of contexts, but their ability to interpret SLOEs is unknown.
Objective: The objective was to evaluate the ability of LLMs to rate EM SLOEs on competitiveness compared to faculty consensus and previously developed algorithms.

Introduction: Primary synucleinopathies, such as Parkinson's disease (PD), Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), and multiple system atrophy (MSA), are neurodegenerative disorders with some shared clinical and pathological features. Aggregates of alpha-synuclein (αsyn) phosphorylated at serine 129 (PSER129) are the hallmark of synucleinopathies, which for PD/DLB are found predominantly in neurons (Neuronal cytoplasmic inclusions "NCIs"), but for MSA, aggregates are primarily found in oligodendroglia (Glial cytoplasmic inclusions "GCIs"). It remains unclear if the distinct pathological presentation of PD/DLB and MSA are manifestations of distinct or shared pathological processes.

For example, study of the beetle-associated symbiont led to the discovery of the antifungal polyketide lagriamide; an important molecule from the perspectives of both biotechnology and chemical ecology. The covalent attachment of polyethylene glycol (PEG) to therapeutic agents, termed PEGylation, is a well-established and clinically proven drug delivery approach to improve the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs. Specifically, PEGylation can improve the parent drug's solubility, extend its circulation time, and reduce its immunogenicity, with minimal undesirable properties. PEGylation technology has been applied to various therapeutic modalities including small molecules, aptamers, peptides, and proteins, leading to over 30 PEGylated drugs currently used in the clinic and many investigational PEGylated agents under clinical trials.

Eriocitrin (eriodictyol 7--β-rutinoside), a citrus flavonoid from lemon juice and peel, reduces hyperglycemia and improves diabetes-related biomarkers in prediabetes patients. Eriocitrin is first metabolized by gut microbiota, producing energy for gut cells and short chain fatty acids that play a relevant role in glycemic control. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of Eriomin®, a nutraceutical composed of 70% eriocitrin, 5% hesperidin, and 4% naringin, on the microbiota of prediabetic patients.
