infection (CDI) is an intestinal infection that causes morbidity and mortality and places significant burden and cost on the healthcare system, especially in recurrent cases. Antibiotic overuse is well recognized as the leading cause of CDI in high-risk patients, and studies have demonstrated that even short-term antibiotic exposure can cause a large and persistent disturbance to human colonic microbiota. The recovery and sustainability of the gut microbiome after dysbiosis have been associated with fewer CDI recurrences.

Background: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are commonly treated in the emergency department (ED), and unfortunately, resistance to first-line agents is increasing.
Objectives: To characterize treatment of pyelonephritis in a nationally representative sample of ED patients and to identify patient- and treatment-specific factors associated with receiving initial inactive antibiotics.
Methods: We conducted a multicentre, observational cohort study utilizing the Emergency Medicine PHARMacotherapy Research NETwork (EMPHARM-NET), comprising 15 geographically diverse US EDs.

This chart is an update to the 2014 article published in Hospital Pharmacy on injectable drugs that require protection from light. To update the chart, an online search of the FDALabel database was performed from inception through July 31, 2022 using the terms "protect" OR "light." After filtering out drugs with non-injectable routes of administration, the list of generic drug names was combined with the 2014 list and duplicates were removed.

Objectives: To date, there are no published pharmacokinetic (PK) data for baricitinib in critically ill patients requiring continuous renal replacement therapy. This paper describes in detail the plasma PK and dialytic clearance of baricitinib in a patient infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) requiring continuous renal replacement therapy in order to suggest dosing strategies in this population.
Methods: Baricitinib 2 mg daily was used for the treatment of COVID-19 in a critically ill patient on continuous venovenous haemodialysis (CVVHD).

Background: Hypoperfusion leads to allograft injury during kidney transplantation. Catecholamine vasopressors are used to maintain blood pressure in the perioperative period but have demonstrated negative outcomes in the deceased-donor kidney transplant population. Little is known regarding living donor kidney transplants (LDKTs) and vasopressor use.

After the unprecedented start of the COVID-19 pandemic, PLWH experienced complications involving interruptions in care and treatment, potentially leading to adverse outcomes including reduced rates of viral suppression, increased hospitalizations, and death. A systematic, comprehensive literature search was completed using PubMed, Google Scholar, and bibliography review to identify relevant articles related to clinical outcomes of HIV and SARS-CoV-2 co-infection.
