Impact of Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy on Thrombomodulin Concentration and Early Markers of Atherosclerosis.

Background: Thrombomodulin, an integral membrane protein functioning as a cofactor in the anticoagulant pathways, has recently emerged as a marker of endothelial dysfunction. This study aimed to investigate the impact of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) on thrombomodulin concentration and early markers of atherosclerosis.

Methods: Forty-four subjects undergoing LSG were prospectively examined.

Introduction: The incidence of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is increasing. This study evaluates the etiologic causes and findings of CSDH and compared unilateral CSDH with bilateral CSDH. This study aims to draw attention to this increasingly prevalent condition.

Perineal anesthesia following interlaminar endoscopic disc surgery.

Perineal anesthesia is defined as the loss of sensation to the area of buttocks, perianal space and thighs. It is often seen in cauda equina syndrome as a collection of acute symptoms mostly occurring secondary to a large disc herniations leading to neuropathy of multiple lumbar and sacral nerve roots.
