Background: This study aims to investigate the impact of combining crush fluid resuscitation with gelsolin treatment on renal function in a rat model of crush syndrome.

Methods: Twenty-four adult female Wistar albino rats were randomly assigned to one of three groups for crush syndrome treat-ment: Control (C) group, gelsolin + crush fluid (gel) group, and crush fluid only (CF) group, each containing eight rats. Sedated rats underwent unilateral hind limb compression of 2 kg using a compression device, maintained for five hours.

Background: Recent studies have analyzed the qSOFA (quick sequential organ failure assessment) score as a prognostic indicator in many diseases, particularly sepsis. However, the effect of qSOFA score on prognosis and mortality in critical care patients has not been sufficiently analyzed. There is not enough data, especially regarding its use as critical care mortality and prognosis scoring.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MISC) related to COVID-19, focusing on comparing clinical and laboratory characteristics of children hospitalized in ICU versus those who were not.
  • Conducted from June 2021 to January 2022, the observational study included 601 patients, with 157 requiring ICU care, revealing significant differences in demographics, lab results, and disease features.
  • Key findings showed that older age groups and higher levels of certain inflammatory markers increased the likelihood of ICU admission, highlighting the severe impact of MISC on children's health.

We aimed to investigate the relationship between GDM and IL-27, IL-6, and body roundness index (BRI), a new anthropometric measurement more sensitive than BMI in identifying obesity and predicting cardiometabolic outcomes. We enrolled 80 patients, 40 pregnant women with GDM and 40 healthy pregnant women at midgestation. The women's anthropometric measurements were recorded and serum markers and IL-6, IL-27 were analysed.

Unlabelled: Multisystemic inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C) diagnosis remains difficult because the clinical features overlap with Kawasaki disease (KD). The study aims to highlight the clinical and laboratory features and outcomes of patients with MISC whose clinical manifestations overlap with or without KD. This study is a retrospective analysis of a case series designed for patients aged 1 month to 18 years in 28 hospitals between November 1, 2020, and June 9, 2021.

Aims: Human asparaginase-like protein 1 (ASRGL1) is closely related to tumor growth. ASRGL1 can significantly promote cell proliferation and suppress apoptosis. To date, high levels of expression of ASRGL1 have been reported in various tumors, but the function of ASRGL1 in carcinogenesis is still not well understood.

Background: The purpose of this study is to assess the readability, understandability, and quality of information on retinopathy of prematurity presented at websites frequently visited by parents.

Methods: A total of 220 websites were assessed, which were recruited by searching for "retinopathy of prematurity" at the Google search engine. The readability of each web page was assessed by Flesch Reading Ease Score, Gobbledygook's Gunning Frequency, Flesch Kincaid Grade Level, Coleman Liau score, The Simple Measure of Gobbledygook, Fry Graph Readability Formula, and Automated readability score.

Purpose: To assess the effectiveness and safety of autologous intraparenchymal blood patch (IBP) application in reducing the frequency of pneumothorax (PTX) after percutaneous transthoracic pulmonary core needle biopsy.

Methods: The records of patients who underwent the transthoracic pulmonary core needle biopsy procedure under CT guidance between January 2015 and October 2018 were screened retrospectively. Patients whose traversed pulmonary parenchymal length was ≥20 mm during biopsy were included in the study irrespective of lesion size.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how the position of intrauterine devices (IUDs) relates to displacement, using transvaginal ultrasound measurements of uterine dimensions.
  • A total of 384 patients with TCu380A IUDs were monitored over six months, revealing that certain factors like distance from the IUD to the endometrium and width of the uterus could increase the risk of IUD displacement.
  • The results indicated significant correlations between displacement, history of menstrual pain, and the timing of previous pregnancies, suggesting that these parameters are critical for assessing IUD positioning.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine quantitative testicular tissue stiffness values in normal and infertile men using shear wave elastography (SWE), and to evaluate the relationship between infertility and testicular stiffness value.

Methods: In total, 100 testes of 50 infertile patients with abnormal semen parameters were classified as group A, and 100 testes of 50 control subjects were classified as group B. These two groups were compared in terms of age, testicular volume, and SWE values.

Introduction: Shear wave elastography (SWE) is a new technology and non-invasive ultrasound device that can measure tissue rigidity and elasticity.

Objective: This controlled prospective study aimed to demonstrate using SWE whether there was a difference between the elasticity of testes with non-communicating (NC) hydrocele in infants and toddlers and elasticity of controls' testes without hydrocele, and to reveal quantitative values of elasticity reflecting histological findings.

Material And Methods: Testes of 37 cases at an average age of 6.
