Objective: We investigated the accuracy of imaging modalities in diagnosis and outcome of otitis media with effusion by correlating the imaging findings with the preoperative otomicroscopic examinations, tympanometric results, and intraoperative findings in patients who underwent cochlear implant surgery.

Methods: The results of the preoperative physical examination and intraoperative findings of patients younger than 18 years who underwent cochlear implant surgery at a single tertiary institution were recorded from their medical charts. Tympanometries, which were performed in maximum 1 week prior to imaging modalities, were analyzed.

Department of Biomedical Imaging and Image-guided Therapy, Division of General and Pediatric Radiology, Medical University of Vienna and General Hospital, Waehringer Guertel 18-20, 1090 Vienna, Austria. Electronic address:

Purpose: To adapt the methodology of the Kaiser score, a clinical decision rule for lesion characterization in breast MRI, for unenhanced protocols.

Method: In this retrospective IRB-approved cross-sectional study, we included 93 consecutive patients who underwent breast MRI between 2021 and 2023 for further work-up of BI-RADS 0, 3-5 in conventional imaging or for staging purposes (BI-RADS 6). All patients underwent biopsy for histologic verification or were followed for a minimum of 12 months.

Purpose: Glaucoma and multiple sclerosis (MS) can cause optic disc pathology and, in this way, affect optical coherence tomography (OCT) data. In this context, the objective of this study is to investigate the changes in the mean, quadrant, and sector data measured by OCT in glaucoma and MS patients.

Methods: The sample of this prospective cohort study consisted of 42 MS patients (84 eyes), 34 Primary open-angle glaucomas patients (67 eyes), and 24 healthy control subjects (48 eyes).

Objective: Pedicle screw stabilization (PSS) surgeries for spinal instability are still the most effective treatment approach. The use of preoperative planning can minimize the complications related to transpedicular screw (TPS) misplacement. The study aimed to evaluate the surgical outcomes of a guide device developed to improve the accuracy of the free-hand technique using three-dimensional planning in PSS.

Background: Although the effects of oral isotretinoin (OI) on acne vulgaris and preventing further acne scars have been well-documented, the specific impact of OI alone on pre-existing atrophic acne scars (AAS) remains unclear. No clinical study has objectively evaluated the effect of OI on AAS yet.

Objective: We sought to investigate the OI effect on AAS quantitatively and reliably by shear-wave elastography (SWE).

Background:  Transpedicular screw (TPS) misplacement is still a nightmare for spine surgeons. Preoperative planning is one of the methods that a surgeon could use to minimize this complication. This study aims to compare the efficacy of three-dimensional (3D) and two-dimensional (2D) preoperative planning in posterior lumbar TPSs placement performed using the freehand technique.

Background: We aimed to investigate the changes that may occur in the auditory neural network in pediatric congenital hearing loss cases.

Methods: Fifty-four cochlear implant candidates and 47 normal-hearing controls were included in this retrospective study. Fractional anisotropy, radial diffusivity, and apparent diffusion coefficient maps were generated.

Background:  Surgical site infection (SSI) is one of the most severe complications of spinal fusion surgery that lead to increased morbidity and mortality rates. Prophylactic antibiotic usage is one of the methods that reduce the possibility of SSI in this procedure. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of local subfascial teicoplanin usage on radiologic and functional outcomes and compare it to the effect of vancomycin on surgical outcomes in patients who underwent decompression with posterior instrumentation (DPI) for lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS).

Purpose: To investigate the benefit of preoperative neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in predicting early postoperative periorbital edema and ecchymosis in patients undergoing primary septorhinoplasty.

Methods: Sixty patients in ASA-I (American Society of Anesthesiologists) who were scheduled for elective primary septorhinoplasty were prospectively included in the study. Periorbital edema and ecchymosis levels of the patients were scored on the postoperative second day.

Purpose: Only a few trials have compared the intraocular pressure-lowering effects of prostaglandin analogs to carbonic anhydrase inhibitor plus beta-blocker fixed-dose combination therapy in patients with pseudoexfoliative glaucoma. Furthermore, the influence of the glaucoma stage on the intraocular pressure-lowering effects of these drug types has not been studied. The purpose of this study was to compare the IOP-lowering efficacy of latanoprost, a prostaglandin analog versus dorzolamide/timolol fixed combination, a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor plus beta-blocker fixed-dose combination therapy, in patients with pseudoexfoliative glaucoma based on glaucoma stage.
