The ability of changes in oct angiography values to predict visual field and retinal nerve layer tomography progression in patients with glaucoma progression: A prospective study.

Introduction: To investigate whether changes in optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) values can predict progression in the visual field (VF) and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) in patients with glaucoma progression.

Methods: All patients in the glaucoma outpatient clinic of SBU Gulhane Medicine Faculty between 2021 and 2023 underwent RNFL, 24:2 VF, and simultaneous peripapillary OCTA. 130 eyes that progressed were included in the study.

Dextrose neuroprolotherapy and occlusal splint treatment outcomes in occlusal trauma: Evaluation through ultrasound imaging.

Background: Occlusal trauma has become a common phenomenon among individuals today. Its primary source is bruxism, which involves unusual activities such as clenching and grinding during the day or sleep. The hypothesis is that with 5% dextrose neuroprolotherapy, both the trigger points and affected nerves will be healed, and the muscle will be relieved by eliminating the pain.

Purpose: Vestibular evoked myogenic potential (VEMP) is a test used to evaluate the function of otolith organs. In healthy individuals, air-conducted (AC) responses are obtained, whereas, in conductive hearing loss, the inability to transmit the signal well enough with AC stimuli has led to the need for bone-conducted (BC) stimuli. This study aimed to compare 500 Hz Chirp and Tone Burst stimuli in terms of latency and amplitude in BC cVEMP.

Association Between Vitamin D Levels and COVID-19 Infection in Children: A Case-Control Study.

Objective: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection is seen in all age groups, and its symptoms are very variable. The course of the disease can be asymptomatic or mortal. In pediatric patients, vitamin D is thought to be protective against (COVID-19) with its immunomodulator, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and epithelial integrity properties.

Background: Delayed autologous nerve graft reconstruction is inevitable in devastating injuries. Delayed or prolonged repair time has deleterious effects on nerve grafts. We aimed improving and accelerating nerve graft reconstruction process in a rat long nerve defect model with loop nerve graft prefabrication particularly to utilize for injuries with tissue loss.

Combat-related ocular trauma and visual outcomes during counter-terrorism urban warfare operations in Turkey.

Background: The study was to report the clinical features and post-operative outcomes in military personnel admitted to the Ocular Trauma Center of Gülhane Training and Research Hospital after sustaining combat injuries in urban warfare.

Methods: This is a retrospective, non-comparative, interventional case series analyzing Turkish military personnel transferred to our tertiary ocular trauma center from the warfare zone and combat support hospitals. Ocular injuries were subdivided into zones and ocular trauma classification.

Ceftazidime-avibactam is a novel antibiotic combination consisting of a broad-spectrum cephalosporin and avibactam with good antimicrobial activity against carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales members.

A rare case of pneumomediastinum after blown tire.

Subcutaneous facial emphysema is a well-known consequence of oral and maxillofacial traumatic injury. In some rare cases, the subcutaneous air collection could spread through the retropharyngeal and paralatero-cervical spaces, reaching the mediastinum. A 55-year-old man was presented to the emergency room after a blast injury caused by a blown truck tire while trying to change tires.

Prognostic factors in craniocerebral gunshot wounds: Analysis of 30 patients from the neurosurgical viewpoint.

Background: Craniocerebral gunshot wounds (CGW) are the most lethal injuries of the cranium. CGW is mostly secondary to military conflicts but may also be seen in civilian life. These injuries also have severe consequences, such as epilepsy, hydrocephalus, infection and late-term cognitive dysfunctions.

Objective: Foot deformities are one of the most common musculoskeletal problems in children with cerebral palsy (CP). These deformities affect the walking ability and function of the patients. Talar cartilage is the hyaline joint cartilage of the tibiotalar joint that plantarflexes and dorsiflexes of the ankle.

The Efficacy of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy for Chronic Coccydynia.

Objective: Coccydynia is a disorder that decreases quality of life with significant functional failure. Extra-corporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) is used to treat several painful musculoskeletal disorders.

Subjects And Methods: The medical records of 34 patients (29 females, 5 males) who had been treated with ESWT between 2017 and 2018 for chronic coccydynia were evaluated.

Objective: In the last decade, substantial evidence has accumulated about the use of cryopreserved platelet concentrates, especially in trauma. However, little reference has been made in these studies to the morphological and functional changes of platelets. Recently platelets have been shown to be activated by cryopreservation processes and to undergo procoagulant membrane changes resulting in the generation of platelet-derived microparticles (PMPs), platelet degranulation, and release of platelet-derived growth factors (PDGFs).
